Snapmanager Oracle for Windows schedule, how to?

Hi all Few days ago I had a chance to install (first time) a Snapmanager for Oracle 2.2 on a Windows 2K3 hosting Oracle 9.2 db instances. No great issues understanting repository and profile concepts or creating backup jobs both full or partial. The issues arrived when, also using the wizard I expected myself to have some items to create a procedure to be scheduled using the Windows scheduler, exactly as done lot of times with SMSQL or SME. I looked for docs or best practice to create some job and to schedule it with no luck. Also reading at command line options it seems quite complex to create and prepare some command rows and to put them in some batch to include in the scheduler. Another strange thing is that once created a backup job with its label you cannot reuse it and it has to be recreated from the beginning. Is there something like that also in SMO? Where is it? Or, alternatively, where I can find docs that can give me some sample to schedule/repeat and so on the job created with SMO? Thanks a lot

Power considerations for FAS3050c

Hi all, I'm setting up a loaner FAS3050c which didn't come with any documentation (working on that issue right now), but am trying to gauge rack space needed and power requirements. Currently I have a FAS3050 controller (3U) and three DS14mk2 shelves loaded with FC disks. Rounding it out with a 1U Broacade Silkworm 3200 VL2. Going off specs on Netapp's site and elsewhere it looks like I can expect the controller to use a max of around 6.4 amps, but it's not clear if this is at 110 or 220. The DS14mk2's have a breakdown depending on the voltage -- 4.4 for 110 and 2.3 for 220. So, a couple questions: - Can the controller use 220? - Is the 6.4A rating for 110 or 220? Any thoughts on a working power configuration would be appreciated. TIA, Ray

Migrating Quotas

Has anybody migrated quotas from an existing Windows file server with DAS, using quotas through storage management in the MMC, to a NetApp using CIFS shares before? I know there's an export feature in the MMC in Windows, but I can't seem to get it to export into an decipherable format. There are currently over 1,000 quotas in place (some the same, many different) that we would really prefer not to have to redo all by hand. Any ideas? Thanks!

Because each vfiler needs its own ip address there may not be a way to unassign the ip from the root vfiler (vfiler0) and assign it to a vfiler (vfiler1) with zero downtime. You can certainly use a new ip for vfiler1 and make DNS changes so the old name points to the new ip. This isn't zero downtime, but depending on your DNS mechanics it can be very low. If you're running cifs on vfiler0 and want to move those resources to vfiler1 you have no choice but to take a short outage since cifs is stateful and the mac address will be different between vfiler0 and 1. We've been running multistore for over a year now and in most cases the vfiler resources are segregated from the physical vfiler0. Replacing Disk Shelves

Hi Toasters, A customer of mine has reached the limit on the FAS3050C, in terms of shelves and disks. So inorder to allocate additional storage space, we are replacing the 36gb disk with 300gb. However, we also need to replace the DS14, with DS14MK4 shelves becuase of better throughput between DS14 & DS14MK4. Can someone please confirm the proceedure of doing this without interuption. SnapManager SQL Errors

Hi, We're just setting up a new SQL server with a SMSQL backup job and we're seeing the following DBCC errors. The SM SQL job has been re-installed and the job setup again as per other servers (ie its the first time we've seen the error). There is also an initiator error but we're not sure why thats listed as an issue - it through the initiator and that IP that the SAN lun's are connected in the first place - [09:22:04.916] *** VERIFY DATABASE AFTER BACKUP 09:22:04.916] Collecting verification information... Oliver pointed me in the right direction - After the email to check the preferred SAN address I noticed the SAN was connected via the Data VLAN and not the iSCSI VLAN. The DBA's had also renamed the server which meant the initiator was keeping the drive mapped but it was possibly affecting mounting the snaps – I disconnected and reconnected with an updated initiator name to match the new server name & reconnected on the correct VLAN and it sorted things out. Hi, Its a Windows 2003 sp 2 VM server (running on ESX 3.5) using SnapDrive 4.2.1 and SMSQL 2.1.1 and SQL 2005 Three luns f:/g:/h: for database, logs & tmpdb Verification server is the same as the SQL server (ie it does its own dbcc check) The SAN connection is via IP address - what needs to be able to resolve to what ? The SQL server can resolve the SAN and vice versa. Cheers, Raj.
