Paul, Currently using BEX 5.1.c/NDMP to back up filers. Have been able to redir restores of file systems/folders or individual files, however there are a few gotchas. The restore must go to a destination that has the same file system/security type of the original source. Thus if you back up CIFS shares that use Windows security you must restore to a destination that also has Windows security and it must be a "local" device, ie, you can't restore to a CIFS mounted share on a Windows box. Conversely, you cannot restore to a mounted export on a UNIX box. Supposely this is going to fixed in a later release of BEX, not sure if it will be incorporated in 5.2 coming out late spring/summer this year. While all disks are hot-swappable (assuming not active in a filesystem) all shelves are not. I believe the only shelves that are hot-swappable/hot-upgradable are DS14 shelves. On your current platform, power-cycling head (I would power-cycle all shelves as well) is needed to resolve disk addressing. Hi! On my F630 running OnTAP 5.3.7R3 with one copper Fibre Channel Host Adapter and 3 FC9 shelfs connected (in one single loop). I would like to add a additional fc9 shelf to that loop. Do I need to powercycle the filer or will the filer find the new shelf without powercycle?? Regards, Magnar

Going to plain 6.3 or 6.4 or higher would work . CIFS Domain Access problem

Hello, One of my customer's filers running 6.1.2 is having problems connecting to the proper NT domain. When I run CIFS setup and try to have it logon to his domain TILEANDMARBLE it try's to connect in NT4 mode and not AD. But if I just use the name LAN it will connect to the domain with no problem. His domain is named lan.tileandmarble.com so I'm guessing that the filer is recognizing that and not the NETBIOS name TILEANDMARBLE. When I join the filer to the LAN domain it is not viable under my network places since it's joined to the LAN domain and not TILEANDMARBLE. Is their any way around this problem?
