Quick program I put together

All, I put together a quick program which calculates the actual usable space you get based on the various configuration options you can set on a filer. It's a .net application but I'm guessing it should run via wine for any *nix folks. I need to add SAS disks as an option, and if anyone knows of an authoritative source on rightsizing (I calculated the percentages based on looking at specific disk information). Anyway, it's somewhat thrown together and not completely finished, but I thought I would see if any folks out there might find it useful before I wasted any more time on it. Also, it would be nice to see how close it gets to people's actual configurations. Some Filerview Pages Not Working

Upgrade of N'tap 7.0.x to 7.2.4 and now some filerview pages initialize java and then do not display. Happens with IE 6 and 7, various windows versions and Mozilla as well. Mount the shares and view the NTFS permisions on the files/folders within share_1. iscsi, mpio of multiple connections with a single head

Hi, I was wondering what the opinions are regaring setting up iscsi and MPIO. I have the following setup: Windows 2003 host, two nics for iSCSI, MS iSCSI initiator, Snapdrive 5.0 Two Network switches Netapp FAS3020 single head, with 2 nics for iSCSI (should I set this up as a vif?) How should I set up the IP adresses on the host, should I use a single vif on the filer? Failed shelf

Hello, We have just been informed by NetApp that we have a failed shelf and a new shelf is on the way. I forgot to ask before I got off the phone if we would be able to use our trial license of SnapMirror to allow us to do this shelf swap over without downtime? This is a FC shelf and we only have enough space to mirror the volumes on to a SATA shelf. Will this work or am I mad? Take care.

Assuming that the entire install was successful, there is a bug report on that. It happens to be an issue with some java setting (I don't remember which). In short, there is a simple setting to fix this. Now, back to the initial comment on the success of the upgrade: using the 'software install' command rather than unzipping into the vol0 share is always your best bet to unravel the files properly. If you are asking can you browse the file data of a user that resides in AD, the answer is yes, if you have the rights to do so. I am assuming you are referring to user data that resides in a CIFS share on the filer, the same rules apply to permissions (both share and NTFS) on the filer as they do in the Windows file server world. xischaune wrote: > > Hello everyone... > I am new to data ontap. SnapDrive makes an API call to expand the NTFS partition and file system within it. (It grows the LUN first.) This can be done with Exchange running. We demo this all the time. Happy holidays!! Accessing RLM using PuTTY (ssh) unresponsive

Dear all, Have FAS3020 single head running ONTAP 7.0.2 at customer site. I have no problem using PuTTY ssh to access the CLI of the FAS. Have configured RLM and it's running fine - 'rlm status' shows: myfas> rlm status Remote LAN Module Status: Online Part Number: 110-00030 Revision: C0 Serial Number: 312392 Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Quotas for A.D. groups

Toasters: Client wants ability to quota by Active Directory group. I see some products out there, but none seem to be able to set a quota on a volume/qtree/directory with the quota pertaining to an A.D. group. Only way I've implemented these in the past is to control access via NTFS ACL such that the A.D. group has write access (everyone else read or none), then set qtree quota. Client has political reasons not to restrict access via NTFS. This is NAS/CIFS only environment. Has anyone else out there found another way, or using any other 3rd party *ware?
