Only a few million. TR3369 is a netapp doc. It used to be here: Http://www.netapp.com/library/tr/3369.pdf In short, the problem is likely either a host NFS config or even Oracle config. EVERY one of the NFS mount options are critical. HI all We've just discussed about this but I'm looking for more realistic samples that compare VMware on iSCSI and on NFS. With "realistic" I mean not 100% sequentials read/write like the ones that have been presented at VMworld. Have you something about? Thank you in advance

Upgrade 900 series to 3000 series filer

we need to replace an older 900 series cluster with a new 3070 cluster. i want to make sure i dont miss anything or gotchas etc, looked on NOW but didnt find a complete guide or maybe i searched wrong. we have 2 new 3070 heads and cables in the box and here is the current plan 1) shutdown and unmount storage nfs/iscsi 2) update to current ontap 7.2.4 (currently at 7.2.3) 3) reboot and allow shelf/disk firmware updates to complete 4) shutdown and remove 9XX heads and cabling 5) install 3070 heads, recable primary and secondary loops 6) power on heads, ensure licenses are current and installed and verify volumes 7) reload ontap with 3000 series architecture release 7.2.4 7) update rc file with new interface names any major gaps in the above or comments from folks who have done this recently? i went over this with the netapp tech rep and it seems pretty straightforward but always want peer review :)

Quick program I put together

All, I put together a quick program which calculates the actual usable space you get based on the various configuration options you can set on a filer. It's a .net application but I'm guessing it should run via wine for any *nix folks. I need to add SAS disks as an option, and if anyone knows of an authoritative source on rightsizing (I calculated the percentages based on looking at specific disk information). Anyway, it's somewhat thrown together and not completely finished, but I thought I would see if any folks out there might find it useful before I wasted any more time on it. Also, it would be nice to see how close it gets to people's actual configurations. Some Filerview Pages Not Working

Upgrade of N'tap 7.0.x to 7.2.4 and now some filerview pages initialize java and then do not display. Happens with IE 6 and 7, various windows versions and Mozilla as well. Mount the shares and view the NTFS permisions on the files/folders within share_1. iscsi, mpio of multiple connections with a single head

Hi, I was wondering what the opinions are regaring setting up iscsi and MPIO. I have the following setup: Windows 2003 host, two nics for iSCSI, MS iSCSI initiator, Snapdrive 5.0 Two Network switches Netapp FAS3020 single head, with 2 nics for iSCSI (should I set this up as a vif?) How should I set up the IP adresses on the host, should I use a single vif on the filer? Failed shelf

Hello, We have just been informed by NetApp that we have a failed shelf and a new shelf is on the way. I forgot to ask before I got off the phone if we would be able to use our trial license of SnapMirror to allow us to do this shelf swap over without downtime? This is a FC shelf and we only have enough space to mirror the volumes on to a SATA shelf. Will this work or am I mad? Take care.

Assuming that the entire install was successful, there is a bug report on that. It happens to be an issue with some java setting (I don't remember which). In short, there is a simple setting to fix this. Now, back to the initial comment on the success of the upgrade: using the 'software install' command rather than unzipping into the vol0 share is always your best bet to unravel the files properly.
