Josh, Try running "cifs prefdc print" which will print out the list of IPs for preferred domain controllers that may have been manually specified. F740 thinks it's a C720, how to re-install?

Hi all, We've got an F740 from another site where they tried upgrading it to 6.1.1 something, but now the system thinks that it's a NetCache C720 instead. I want to upgrade it to 6.2R2, so I've downloaded the software and created the boot floppies (all five of them) and used them to boot. I then initialized six of the disks on the system, and made a new filesystem, but it still thinks that it's a NetCache. Has anyone run into this before? Hello everyone, I've got a strange one here... I've got users in another domain that are trying to reach my F760 (6.2R2) and they are rarely ever to get in. I used the cifs testdc command to troubleshoot the problem and found something that is pretty strange. The command finds the domain controllers and is unable to connect to them, upon closer inspection, I realized that those were the old IPs for those servers. I've checked WINS, DNS, and the local hosts file and can find no entries for those old IP addresses. Is there another place I should be looking? FC/AL connection to tape library.

Is anyone using FC/AL to connect filers to tape libraries? I am using Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop (ie no switch) to connect my filer running 6.2R2 to an ATL P3000 tape library. When I first did this the filer could not see the tape drives until it was rebooted (although it could see the FC bridge in the library a soon as it was plugged in). I just had to power cycle the library. Now the filer can't see the tape drives ("sysconfig -t" or "storage show tape" say "No tapes found.") but it can see the FC bridge. Is anyone else seeing this? Replaced Drive still shows red LED

I replaced a failed drive yesterday. However, the drive light still shows red, even though the filer thinks that the disk is there and is a spare. Is this a common problem? I am running OS 6.1R1, and the LCD is displaying the ops/sec as usual. Jordan

budtool tape recovery without budtool

I have an old design tape that was made with Budtool's ndmp option that I need to recover. We no longer have budtool but one of the selling points of BT was that you could recover your data without it. The tape was made by an ndmp dump direct to tape. Anyone know how to recover? I have attempted the following: mt -f rst0a rewind mt -f nrst0a fsf 1 mt -f nrst0a fsr 2 recover TfD nrst0a /vol/recovery Doing the above gets me a block issue: "block size should be 60 not 63". So I tried this (after positioning...): recover TfDb nrst0a /vol/recovery 60 It vascillates between returning "Bad Header" and something about a 4k block. we use the "normal" w2k progs and never use the filerview to administer filers. then you can use local groups and gibe shares the permissions on groups ... we also give no special permissions on the shares administrators full, users change and setting the permissions on the filesystem ... also hyena ist able to deal with the filers in a w2k-domain ... Also to check the lclgroups.cfg file which is responsible for local groups (he would know where local groups can be recorded in order to save this SAM-like file). But : - useradmin can add users but not groups, can't it ? - normally User manager Windows tool should permit to create local users and groups but where the resultant file is located ?
