OSSV "systemstate" recover on Windows box

Greetings, I know how to do a SystemState recover using data backed up by OSSV. (Windows box) I want to know how OSSV is accomplishing the recover. When I do the recover, the OSSV client software says: "The machine will need restarting to complete the restore of 462 file(s)." I reboot the machine and "magic" stuff happens. I want to know: 1. where, on my Windows box, does OSSV store the recovered files 2. what is the "magic" stuff that happens when I reboot the windows box Is there a document somewhere that explains the details of this process? thanks -john miller

Measurable effects of read_realloc?

Hello Is there a way within an SVM (cDOT 8.3.2P5) to observe the results of setting read_realloc to “on” in Oracle database flexvols? I told my DBAs that I’d be enabling this option on a couple eligible flexvols per day to see if we’d benefit from it, and we all are curious to see if it has benefited us. What sort of measurable things would someone see? Decreased latency and increased throughput after a couple weeks of heavy read load? I have OCUM/OCPM and LogicMonitor to view filer-side stats, and my DBAs have OEM to view stats coming from Oracle. MacOS Sierra and the red bang

Ever since MacOS Sierra came out, we've had quite a few complaints of users getting access denied while accessing CIFS shares on all of our 7-Mode(8.1.4P9) filers. I've seen this behavior myself where you connect to a share and many if not all of the folders will have a red bang on them. Sometimes the red bangs will just disappear, and sometimes you have to reboot/reconnect your Mac to get them to disappear. Has anybody else seen this or have a recommendation on how to resolve this? WFA vs OnCommand API Services vs NMSDK vs ..

Hello My coworkers would like to integrate volume-related tasks (creation, sizing, mounting, offlining, destroying) into their Salt-based automation/devops stack. They want to use a well documented REST interface if at all possible. I was asked to do some research into the best way for them to go about doing this and I think I'm more confused now vs when I started. NetApp has a handful of ways to skin this cat. I found: - NMSDK is really raw, and support for Python seems pretty weak compared to PowerShell or Perl. We'd basically have to roll our own "thing". Too much time and effort reinventing the wheel. - Some stuff on Github that kinda sorta might work, but was last updated years ago. - Workflow Automation, but that seems overkill and pricy for what the (current) requirements are. - ONTAP API Services which seems closest to what they want, but then gets tangled up in OCUM/OCPM? I guess this actually isn't a huge deal, as we do have OCUM 6.4P1 and OCPM 2.1.0P1 integrated together and looking at all of our clusters. What are other people doing for automation of various storage related tasks? Administrivia: twenty years old today

I apologise for adding to everyone's mailbox, but I noticed that this list is twenty years old today - on 21/2/1997 I initialised the list, which was then hosted at Mathworks, and run by majordomo. The 20th anniversary of the first post (which wasn't mine!) will be 5/3/2017 (that is, in about two weeks), but I won't be saying all this again. Many thanks to everyone who has shared so generously of their time and expertise over the years, helping other people on this list, and to Mathworks, who hosted it for most of the last two decades. NFSv3 mount on NTFS volume on cDOT 9.0 - UID getting mapped to 65534

Have an NTFS volume being shared out via NFSV3. SVM is part of AD and NIS. When an NIS-joined client lists directories under the export, everything seems to be mapped to UID 65534. Running Cassandra on FAS

Does anyone has experience running Cassandra DB on Netapp All Flash Array. We are planning to deploy cassandra on Netapp AFF but everywhere I see online they discourage running Cassandra on shared storage. Any good/bad experiences you would like to share? Manish
