Guys,
I need to write one damn volume to tape on a cDOT 8.3.2p9 four node
cluster. LTO5 drives hooked up with FC. I can setup NDMP in VServer
mode and get that part working. But I can't find the tool to start a
dump to tape of the volume.
ndmpcopy just does filer to filer copies. You can't use 'dump' any
more from the console, it's all NDMP based now.
I guess I'll have to just configure Netbackup 7.7.3 with NDMP to make
this happen, but then I'll need to figure out how to backup a …

snapshot.
Such a pain...

Greetings,
Has anybody upgraded to Ontap 7mode 8.2.5 on FAS8020? I do have a case in,
but as you can imagine it is moving slowly. I dont yet feel the need to
start screaming.
The Ontap update is autoupdating the SP to 3.0.4, and causing some issues:
sp.device.fw.mismatch:warning]: Device firmware version mismatch detected:
eth_switch:Rev:2,Img:3-mismatch
Couple of oddities with this:
There isn't a 3.0.4 SP firmware available via netapp website nor is it
documented in the SP matrix
https://…
[View More]mysupport.netapp.com/NOW/cgi-bin/fw?platform=FAS8020&type=sp_ontap&…https://mysupport.netapp.com/NOW/download/tools/serviceimage/support/Servic…
I've gone into debug mode and issued
SP netapp01*> sp switch-update
Which seems to have worked, but the new error then becomes:
sp.device.fw.mismatch:warning]: Device firmware version mismatch detected:
12:Rev:fan,Img:-mismatch
So I presume I should run:
SP netapp01*> system fan update
Warning: system sensors monitor and system sensors thermal-mgmt should be
disabled both on this controller and partner controller (if installed).
Continue? [y/n]
At which point I thought it best to figure out exactly what is going on
here.
I think the following message might be related.
monitor.temp.unreadable:info]: The controller temperature (CPU0 Temp
Margin) is not readable.

Douglas

Hi Justin,
Thanks for taking the time for replying to this.
To answer your question, I specified the SVM.
But based on your comment that it should …
[View More]work to use the built-in schemas, I did a little more testing, and I think the problem is related to the MS-AD-BIS schema that was added in 9.1. In my experience, it cannot be used directly. Below is an example with:
- direct use of the MS-AD-BIS schema (doesn't work)
- use of an unmodified copy of the MS-AD-BIS schema (works)
- direct use of another built-in schema, AD-IDMU (also works)

Guys,
I've run into an interesting problem on a 4 node cDOT cluster running
8.3.2P9 today. Basically, I've setup a user account with access to a
particular VServer. It's used for creating snapshots and such.
When we do the command:
ssh <vserver> vol show <volume_full_name>
it just hangs, and doesn't show anything. We have to do a Ctrl-C to
get it back.
But if I simply do a simple: 'ssh <vserver> vol show' it all works
nice and quickly. So wierd. I can even do …
[View More]the show command when
there are multiple volumes using a wild card and it works.
ssh <vserver> vol show '<volume_*>'
works, as long as it matches MORE than just the single volume. Using
the -instance flag doesn't help either.
I even tried moving the admin lif to another node, thinking that one
node had some stuff ssh processes, but it didn't make a differnce.
Thanks,
John

Interested to know if anyone has connected an N-Series disk shelf up to a 7-Mode FAS?
Under the hood it's a DS4243 currently running on an N-Series with ONTAP 8.0.2
We will be connecting it to a FAS3250 running ONTAP 8.2.4 P6
Both systems are not under support.
FAS8020 HA Pair. Multi-path enabled. 8.2.4P4 7-Mode.
I've non-disruptively hot added a shelf before. Can I do the same thing
with 2 new shelves at once?
i.e. Connect 2 new shelves together properly, then connect Side A (which
will give 1 path to both new shelves at the same time). then connect Side
B (which will give the 2nd path to both new shelves at once).
Or do I have to do it as if I was only adding 1 shelf at a time.. ie
Completely connect new shelf 1 and then completely connect …
[View More]new shelf 2?
This assumes all s/w and h/w compatibility specs have been met.
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
I am trying to set up Windows-to-Unix mapping by following this reference
as a guideline:
https://kb.netapp.com/support/s/article/ka31A00000012CQQAY/how-to-set-up-wi…
(I am using the MS-AD-BIS schema available in ONTAP 9 rather than copying
and modifying RFC-2307).
We are using ONTAP 9.1P8.
secd throws up this error: RESULT_ERROR_SECD_CONFIGURATION_NOT_FOUND
followed by RESULT_ERROR_SECD_LIBC_TRANSIENT_ERROR, which I cannot match to
any information on the support site.

Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong ?

Hello
Does anyone know what happens when you have a FlexClone demo license that has expired and you have FlexClones that were created during the period the license was active, and you reboot the filer? Do the FlexClones still work? Do they get disabled but the data is still there? Do they get deleted? I was about to update a filer to 8.3.2P12 and AutoSupport correctly noted that this license had expired. Data on these clones is still used, of course, so losing it would be a terrible thing.
…

One thing that sprang to mind is that I am SnapMirroring these FlexClones to a DR site already, so I guess worst case scenario I need to mirror them back (though fully inflated they are about 6t each).
