I am speechless: wild NFS behaviour

server 1: 192.168.1.1:/vol/vol1/tree2 /test123 server 2: 192.168.1.1:/vol/vol1/tree2 /test123 ls -al show same set of files and dir 1. touch 1. Seen both on server 1 and server 2 2. CD in existing DIR "test" different set of files are seen from server 1 and 2. on server 1 touch aaa, not seen on server 2. on server 2 touch bbb, not seen on server1. behaviour I am speechless! What can this be?

Tracking Space Trends on NetApp Filers

Hello, Are there any utilities/scripts out there that will keep track of storage trends on NetApp volumes? I'm in need of something that will show how much volumes have increased in space utilization over time. My first guess was just simply do 'df' RSH commands and parse/store the data, but I'd like to know if there was anything more robust before I began. Oracle on Netapp

Looking for someone out there with some experience with pSeries + Oracle. Is SnapVault, SnapMirror, Snapshot used as common replication tools for Oracle in the General Public versus native Oracle Replication or Snapshots? Long ago we also looked at Native clustering / replication tools at the P-Series level. Just curious on how many companies use the SAN replication tools for Oracle. I'd appreciate any insight you might have and I'll try and do some research on this. From a storage admin side I was assuming it's as simple as creating a shell script that quiesces Oracle, takes a snapshot and then lets Oracle move on with it's life, am I missing something? -Jeremy This message (including any attachments) contains confidential and/or proprietary information intended only for the addressee. Yes, although it from the source logs you can see it doesn't hang in the "exact" same place it's always around 83G transferred. I reconfigured the VSM to a QSM this morning since it's really just qtree tree1 in the flexvol and it hung even sooner, at the 65G mark. I'm trying to get downtime to run wafl_iron at this point. Aggregate shows need check

Hi, We have recently upgraded to 7.2.3 and have created an aggregate containing 2 flex volumes however I have recently noticed that the status of the aggregate shows 'need check'. According to the manuals this means that i need to run a wafl consistency check ran on it (Wafl_check), can I do this while the filer is online and serving data or do i have to boot the filer in to maintenance mode?. traditional SnapVault destination vol to flex vol convertion question

Hi guys, We need to convert traditional SnapVault destination volume (2TB) on a R200 to flex volume. We want to keep the snapvault snapshot to avoid doing another base transfer from source located in another data center. VSM is not possible. QSM will not copy the snapshots. We have heard that there is a procedure with snapmirror –s options that do the trick. Can someone help us with that procedure? Many thanks in advance. Thanks,

Data Ontap "downgrade"

Hi All Maybe is a simple question for most of you but I've never done before and I want to be sure J I'm going to revert a 6030HA from 7.2.3 to 7.2.2 for Snapmirror (bidirectional) compliance to another 6030HA system already running 7.2.2 I've seen times ago a similar operation performed from a 7.2 to a 7.1 and I remember some special command to apply after the unzip/download phase of the preceding Data Ontap release. Is it so? I mean, there are special commands on cli or should I simply unzip the 7.2.2, living them the "download" command and a reboot as an "upgrade"? Or is there something other. My 6030HA is a NEW system, no volumes or other aggregate other that the aggr0/vol0 for the os Regards

But you don't need that to just go from 7.2.3 to 7.2.2. Simply download and reboot will do it. Davin.
