7.0.6 to 7.2.5.1 upgrade

Has anyone experienced an issue going from 7.0.6 to 7.2.5.1. I did an upgrade on my 940 cluster and when I attempted takeover the takeover never succeeded. The first head decided to reboot (without me running halt) but the second head never completed the takeover. After that it complained about version mismatch.

CIFS UNC share authentication delay

We are experiencing a vexing delay when users on non-domain-joined Windows workstations attempt to connect to shares on our filers using a UNC share path. For example, if a user goes to start->run on Windows XP and enters the path "\\fileserver\sharename", they will see a delay ranging from two to ten minutes before they get an authentication prompt. Once authenticated to the server, there are no performance problems. If connecting using named credentials (either using the GUI "map network drive", or a command line "net use" command), this delay does not occur. We did an awful lot of troubleshooting. Eventually we turned on cifs login tracing (options cifs.trace_login on) and found the following revealing entry in our logs: toast: auth.trace.authenticateUser.loginTraceMsg:info]: AUTH: Delaying the response by 5 seconds due to continuous failed login attempts by user administrator of domain <WORKSTATION> from client machine <IP Address>. It appears that the Windows client is generating more login attempts than the filer thinks should be allowed! However, I have no ability to change the behavior of unmanaged Windows workstations, so I need to tune this from the server side. Does anyone know how to change the number of consecutive login failures allowed by the filer? What about changing duration of the delay? I have a case open with NetApp on this one, but they have not been able to provide answers so far. -Greg Mackinnon University of Vermont

flexvol disk stats

Hi, I need to find disk statistics for an environment that uses flexvols. I used to run "pvstats" written by Ben Swartzlander <bswartz(a)netapp.com>but that does not work in an flexvol environment. I need something similar to that for be able to tell management where we stand. I would appreciate to hear from you if you have something similar or if you perhaps modified Ben's code to work in an flexvol environment and you're willing to share. IBM 3500 Library commands from Nearstore R200

I've just added a SAN based IBM 3500 (with 3592 EO5 drives in it) to my Nearstore R200 running 7.2.4. I now see a changer "mc0" on the filer. I'd like to test the datapath to the drive from the filer and run a filer dump command, but the IBM guys say there is no way to mount a tape via their web interface. (I have yet to configure the changer in Tivoli) Is there autochanger commands in OnTap ? I want to mount a tape via OnTap. I don't see any reference in the Data Protection Guide.... TIA -Bob

Testing autosupport (not doit)

Does anyone know of a method to test autosupport notifications (sent to netapp) via https post? Options autosupport.doit only tests via mail apparently. I've got a student who's filer isn't sending out notifications and I wanted to have him kick of a test. We saw something similar with the same setup, the service wouldn't start during the install. We got round it by logging on as the snapdrive service account and installing it whilst logged on as that (I an assuming you've set up your service account with the right permissions etc as covered in the snapdrive admin guide).
