Multi-Language setting volumes

I'm setting up a filer to be multiprotocal and to access it from both English and Japanese languages. My question is what language can I use on the volumes to enable me to do this? I found some information on the NOW site that indicates that POSIX supports multiple languages. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this kind of setup? Thanks -Mark

Looking for boot disks for an NetCache 4.1R6

Hello, I have just found an old C760 its in quite dead state , but i fixed it , it works now . (the mother board was broken :))))) But I have an problem i need the bootdisks of the same version that installed on it (4.1R6) too reset the password . This version is not supported anymore by netapp . So maybe somebody could send me his boot disks images ? I'm also looking for more recent boot disks if they can reset the pass (i tryed with my F760 disks but it crash after i try to reset the pass). Very best regards Cb

Anyone using trapnotify script for CIFS users?

Dear toasters, Is anyone using this script to notify CIFS users when they reach their soft quota thresholds or their quota limits? The stock script needs modifications to do this. Wondering if someone has already done this. thanks -G

Hello, if the installation manual was followed, you should normally have the following : emu 5 refers the the second shelf connected to 7a emu 4 will refer to the first shelf connected to 7a If you are standing at the back. Help, I keep getting these, but they correct themselves. "emu 5 reports no right fan" "Fault reported on disk storage shelf attached to slot 7a" Questions: 1) Which of the two 7A shelfs is emu 5? How do I count them? Is there some kind of numbering scheme or switch setting for the emu chain? 2) From which direction is the right fan? I fully agree that a 'check but don't fix' feature would be very helpful but we made the experience that wafliron do not touch any productive files. We recently had the problem that snapvault refused to run because of an inconsistent file system. It was a volume of about 270 GB and 10m files. As this volume hosted the internet presence of a big customer, we had little chance to take it offline and were understandably doubtful to use wafliron without knowing what we have to expect. So we made a test run on a less critical volume and it turned out to be a quite useful tool. It runs in the background with low priority but nervertheless I would recommend to run it over night. In our case it took about 4 hours to finish and it moved about 1500 files into the lost+found directory. Obviously all of them were already "invisible" as the internet presence was not affected. Afterwards our problem was solved. Of course I can only speak about our case and can not give you any guarantee... Perhaps you are able to do a volume snapmirror to backup your data before running wafliron (that is what we did), because volume snapmirror is working on block level whereas qtree snapmirror and snapvault are working on file level. Veritas 4.5 supports remote NDMP I think it requires a dedicated drive. There is a way to use NDMP over ethernet versus the SCSI\FCAL with Veritas NBU. Not sure if it requires a dedicated drive however. Possibly worth a look. Veritas Netbackup Question

I think that I'm in a bit of a quandary. I'm trying to implement backups using Netbackup 4.5 for a single filer and a handful of unix and windows clients. I have a single Overland library with a single tape drive. As far as I can tell, I have to dedicate the single tape drive to NDMP. This would preclude backing up other systems to that tape drive. Is there anyone on the list that has run into this type of a problem with Netbackup? Thanks, barry
