f940c alternative from EMC ?

Sorry if this is slightly off topic. Anyone have any experience with an EMC NS 600 [I'm told it's a rather new EMC NAS solution]? I have a client who is considering the NS 600 over a 940 Cluster ... and I don't think the EMC solution is the right one ... but without having any first hand knowledge or having heard much about the NS 600 I can't provide any good arguments why they should avoid it... and I don't want to be called on to pick up the mess afterwards. Any experience or advice [or even simply reasons why you didn't buy it] is much appreciated. I use an annex box, telnet to the annex box and choose the port you want. We use Consever (http://www.conserver.com) to manage the connections to all of our netapps/unix boxes/network gear. Conserver works with just about any serial devices or terminal server hardware. I currently use Digi Etherlites as my terminal servers, but have use Portmasters and plain old serial ports in the past. Good question, I'm wondering the same thing; but more from a "pick up the mess afterwards" p.o.v. I discovered in the middle of a fairly large project that the Decision Had Been Made to go with emc's nas h/w. Check to see if the battery attached to your NVram is still alive. The ram is probably ok. Could be. Run standalone diagnostics. I had trouble with my spare parts filer and found that I needed to carefully reseat the NVRAM and then all the problems disappeared. I hope you shutdown cleanly, otherwise you may have scrambled eggs. My spare parts filer lost all its disk information and I had to reload it. Lost everything. Upon initialising disks my NetApp displays the following: NVRAM test failed! NVRAM offset 0x300040, wrote 0xfe7e8201, got 0x457e8201 Program terminated ok Is my NVRAM defective? J.
