Blast from the past. 5.3.1D9

I have an old filer that we just didn't do much with. I powered it up, and it's crashing with a panic in wafl. Read a bug report that it is fixed in 5.3.1D9. The filer has 5.3.1 on it. I have the 5.3.1D9 tar files and stuff, but I believe the install uses the regular 5.3.1 disks. Are there any ways to get the 5.3.1D9 kernel on the floppy so I can boot it and let the wafl log finish getting replayed? There's nothing on there that's too critical, but I just want to double check.

Try this works for me Computers and terminals are typically DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) devices. DTE Adapter Wiring DB-9 DB-25 Signal Function Adapter RJ-45 8 5 CTS Clear To Send Blue 1 1 8 DCD Data Carrier Detect Orange 2 2 3 RD Received Data Black 3 5 7 SG Signal Ground Red 4 5 7 SG Signal Ground Green 5 3 2 TD Transmitted Data Yellow 6 4 20 DTR Data Terminal Ready Brown 7 7 4 RTS Request To Send White 8 6 6 DSR Data Set Ready - - (see notes below ) 9 22 RI Ring Indicator - - ( probably forget this one ) Some DTE devices require the DSR (Data Set Ready) signal. This signal is usually provided by the DCE device. If you have a DTE device (such as a terminal) that requires the DSR signal, wire pins 20 and 6 (4 and 6 on a DB-9 connector) together. I tried one of those and it didn't work. It's a black rj45->db9 connector labeled TERMINAL and it's the one I was using to attach to the serial port of a laptop to console into the cisco. Legato creates that directory on my volumes even when I'm not using snapshots. Anyway Legato backs up by creating a snapshot and then backing up the snapshot and then it (supposedly) deletes the snap, but if it fails mid-backup it might leave it out there. I assume other backup software works similarly. Not sure how to get rid of it. With at least one version of Ontap, trying to delete the contents of that folder panics the filer, so think twice before trying that! I found that out the hard way. We have a 740 filer running 6.3.1R1 with NFS shares to a Tru64 Unix 5.1a cluster. We have a directory on the Unix machine mounted to a folder on vol0 on the filer. When I do a df -k against the mount on the Unix system, it shows that it is nearly full. I cd into the mount and see a .snapshot directory with entries from June 12th 2002. When I turn snapshots on, I can't see any snapshots directory or folders in Windows Explorer. I can't see these snapshots from filerview either. The sizes are right for a (3+1) x 72GB volume with 10% snapshot reserve, but the used/avail values make no sense to me. Is the "avail" for /vol/VLD_EXData/.snapshot really 18794972 rather than 8794972 (that could be a transcription error), which would be consistent with there being no snapshots. I've decided to try and use the Cisco 2511-RJ that we currently have in place for our sun gear and connect the netapps to that for network console connections. I picked up some rj45->db9 connectors that need to be pin'd out. Does anyone know how these are pin'd out offhand? Thanks Dan

Filer F840 Network Path?

I have a F840 on Windows NT Domain? Wheni try to mapping the path C$ or any other path of the filer, the system cannot find the network path. In the administrative Tools, "Server Manager" i see the computer, type and description, selecting the computer and properties i receive the next message: "The network path was not found", please anybody can help me. Replacing a PSU on a DS-14

Hi, quick question. I have a DS-14 shelf on an F720, DOT 6.3.1, with one failed power supply (second one still running fine allbeit getting a bit warm). Replacement is on the way.
