You cannot uses Netbackup to backup other systems when the drives are
directly attached to the NetApp Filer. You can only backup NetApp servers
with it period with Netbackup 3.4. I am not sure if it is planned for 4.5
or 5.0 release to change this.
Also Netbackup and Legato do not play well together when sharing tape
devices. It sounds as though you have some drives specifically set for
Legato but are trying to use them with Netbackup too??. Netbackup wants
control of the drives and will not be able to know when Legato is done using
the drives and vice versa with Legato not knowing about Netbackup.

Michael,
Ok, I didn't think of that, thanks. Seems
like no matter how long I wait when unloading manually,
it still fails, time to open another case with veritas
I suppose. Amusement factor of the debug goes up as
number-of-products-involved squared.

DLT7000 and DLT8000 libraries connected to Filers. I use Legato Networker
and it requires setting high timeouts for eject sleep, unload sleep, mount
sleep, etc., to work properly. The total for timeouts can be up to 5
minutes
