For all those who responded to my problem with CIFS performance...
Thanks, problom solved. We installed the oplocks patch on one system, but no result. The same with disabling
the oplocks on the filer. We also have several interfaces on the box but we couldn't find a fault there too.
So like some of you mentioned about 'streamlining' traffic, we looked into the networking aspect of this.
We found that users on one system didn't have problems because they were connected at 10 Mbit Half Duplex, uplinked
to a switch with 100Mbit full duplex and them together with several other 100 Mbit FD links uplinked to the backbone via 1 Gbit .
The filer was connected to it via 1 Gbit.
The ones experiencing problems didn't have a 1Gbit uplink to the backbone (only 100Mbit FD, but only very low traffic on this link),
we changed to a half duplex link and the users to 10Mbit half duplex.....and everything flies.
Now we get more than twice as fast as using a normal NT server. Which were fast with the old network config.
IMHO these filers are very fast, but you need to have a network adapted to it.
So thanks again
