Todd, Here is the remaining answer from Renee La Londe (e-Services): "Our legal department won't let us get around enforcing the acceptance of the license. But we can put the continue buttons somewhere on the top and not make "hidden" where you have to scroll down. Great feedback and we will look into that pronto."

Todd, The intent of the metrics is to show current FCS and GA releases for the purpose of making informed upgrade decisions. We decided not to show old releases because we felt they were largely irrelevant in the decision to upgrade. The 6.0x and above metrics that you're seeing are based on the platform you are selecting for upgrade. If you select F500 series platform for example, you'll see the release metrics for 5.3.7. If you go to the "Bugs Online" page, you can see all metrics for all FCS and GA releases on one page, regardless of platform using the "Release Metrics" tool. CIFS issues when upgrading to 6.X

i'm upgrading our NFS based 760 cluster to 61R1. easy enough, i've done that before. our NT team has asked that i upgrade their shiny new 760 CIFS based machine to 61R1 at the same time. i plan to do it using the same procedure, but am wondering if there are any CIFS-based gotchas. i am not a cifs-friendly person, so this is pretty much black art and our NT team is still pretty new to netapps. sort of the blind in one eye leading the blind in the other eye. this will be during a scheduled outage, so losing CIFS connexions due to reboots is not an issue. thanks -- email: lance_bailey(a)pmc-sierra.com box: Lance R. Why not configure the aix servers as a hacmp cluster and define the oracle instance as a resource group? With nfs mounts it only takes a couple of minutes to complete the failover and bring up oracle on the backup server. Ho-ray: Was just downloading some software from NOW.... Hey, there are these neat "metrics" on one of the pages. Cool! How about adding older releases, please? Only 6.0.x and higher are listed. Gripe: And, why when I'm downloading the software do I need to read a full page or two of licensing before clicking "accept." You know who I am, the cookies are enabled; yes, of course I accept. Declining just brings me back to the intermidably long features/limitations/bugs/doc/upgrade page anyway. Clever, the way the "continue" button to actually *download* the software is hidden way at the bottom... I assume all this information is contained in what I'm downloading, yes? Until next time... In 6.1, there is a threshold field in /etc/quotas that can be used. If a write goes over the threshold it logs a message to the filer. So for example you could do: /vol/vol0/mytree tree 50GB - 45GB Now after 45GB you will see messages in the /etc/messages file. It may not be exactly what you want, but it's a start.
