I think this is a problem with setting up the NDMP connection. First... is matterhorn reachable from the client where Veritas is installed? Try the ping command.
Next, could you verify that the password for user root on the filer is indeed the same as what is registered with veritas? If not, reconfigure Veritas set_ndmp_attr.
To help debug further, run the command "ndmpd debug 50" on the filer console. Now run the set_ndmp_attr -verify again. See if you get any ndmp logs printed on the console. If you do, the NDMP connection/authentication is fine. And we can proceed to the robot.
