Hi All.
I have a FAS3210 appliance with NetApp 8.0.2. I would like to update it to 8.1.2. In http://support.netapp.com/ (My AutoSupport) I see there is a "Upgrade Advisor" section. There is a step-by-step howto. But are there any good documents about updating this software? I would like to make as few mistakes as possible, I will do it for the first time ;)
Best regards, Rafal Radecki.
Just my 2 cents.. Not sure if it is written in the doc, but when you do a fail over to the partner, and you have FC type luns, wait at least 10 minutes before failing back over. Also, we usually update the firmware on the disk/shelves prior. Stop all snapmirrors or just turn it off so nothing is in transit during maintenance. I make a copy of the /ETC for safe keeping, and if you have CIFS, I usually export my shares.. We follow to doc and are usually good with the upgrades. Good luck, and may the DOT force be with you.

You may also want to check the support matrix. If you are running snapdrive, I think you need to be at 6.4.2 or later.. Forgot that one. 1. upgrade advisor is good 2. In line with Steve I'd update as much firmware(disk, shelf, rlm, etc) as possible before doing an upgrade this tends to make the process smoother. 3. Also don't know your work load but generally do it at the lowest peak more free resources the better. 4. Try make sure all clients are up to date with SnapDrive, host utilities etc.
Did this upgrade awhile ago it went smoothly by following these simple steps.
