For the microsoft initiator, you need 6.4.1 on the filers. I'm on step 4.3 - Adding a target When I try to add the Filer as a Target Portal on the Windows box it returns the error "Unsupported Version." Similar message on the Filer console. Any ideas anyone? Can I reset a SCSI interface on a filer?

Hi all, I have a pair of clustered 820's running Data ONTAP 6.4. One of the heads has a SCSI host adapter (Qlogic ISP 1040B) connected to a tape library that we use for backing up the filers. Occasionally the library will become confused and we will need to reset the SCSI interface in order to get it back into an operational mode. In the past we have done a takeover on the partner and then shut down / restarted the head with the SCSI card. Needless to say this is problematic. Is there any way to reset the SCSI interface on these cards without impacting the filer's operations? If not, are there other replacement cards which would allow me to do this? Anyone using disk_usage.pl script?

Hi, I downloaded the script from NOW site. I get the following error, when run on a Linux box, Illegal division by zero at ./disk_usage.pl line 232, <fpin> line 367. Anyone know how to fix this? or are there other scripts that does quota reporting, i.e. sending out emails to users when the reach a certain threshold? thanks in advance. -G

FAS960/FAS960c Differences

Hello L&G, Pls I need to know the difference between FAS960 and FAS960c. FAS960 support max raw capacity of 24T while FAS960c support 48T. Can one say FAS960c is for the clustered option with 2 x FAS960 Filer heads connected in a cluster configuration with the necessary cluster modules, or is the FAS960c with just one Filer head? If I have one FAS960 Filer head and disk shelves, what do I need to convert it to FAS960c, do I need to acquire another FAS960 filer head? Please check fans, power and temperature. -------------------------------------- I visually inspected all the shelfs and there were no red lines on. All the fans were working. Both power supplies were lit green on each shelf. Which is emu 5? I halted the filer, power cycled everything, and it came back up. All seemed fine, but then I got this alert: Tue Jul 1 10:47:55 EDT [dyn_dev_qual_admin]: Downrev firmware on 1 disk Two months ago, I replaced a failing disk with a spare. blade servers to Filer

Hi Toasters, We are migrating many of the current servers to HP blade servers. The Server Team is considering connecting to the Filers/SAN on the back end for storage. I know this is not a problem. Some of the applications servers only need 4GB of space so leaving it on the DAS will be better. Want to best utilize the Filers since not every blade server is a good candidate for NAS if DAS will suffice. What are some criteria to use when considering connecting blade servers to the Filers? Any suggestion is appreciated. cheers, Marcus Bui
