REQ: Survey: Maildir on Netapp Filers

Dear list, I would like to perform a survey of past and current experiences with deploying and maintaining an IMAP+POP maildir cluster (e.g. Courier-IMAP), backed by Netapp filers, with > 50k mailboxes. Especially of interest is any problems you faced, how you solve them, recommended design decisions, common pitfalls, etc. You can e-mail the list or me privately, whichever you think is more appropriate. The reason is this: I'm having problems with _my_ maildir setup on Netapp, I have a feeling there's something wrong in my setup somewhere that I can't figure out yet, and searching for any clues you might have from past experiences, knowledge (esp. you Netapp engineers out there), etc. Sorry if all this sounds too general, I have a lot of things in my mind and hope this would be good for starters, for in-list or private discussions. Upgraded the filer OS to 6.4.4 (hope that does'nt bite me later..) Hi, We have three filers - an F87, an F760 and a new FAS940. Up until the arrival of the FAS940 I have found MRTG for filers easy to use and set-up when adding new equipment. However, with the 940 it seems that the SNMP messages MRTG sends do not work. Has anyone been able to configure the tool for use with this ontap version and filer model? I just noticed this error started just a day ago on both F880c. Searched NOW but didn't get any info. Everything seems to be fine but just want to make sure. Anyone know what the error mean? Are you using a VIF? My understanding is that the 6509 does not support aggregation and jumbo frames. They and the servers are on a dedicated network running Gigabit Ethernet through a Cisco 6509 switch. I noticed that jumbo frame was not turned on. I had asked the previous administrator why and he said that they had tested the systems initially with Jumbo frame and did not notice any appreciable difference in performance. The main applications we are running are 3 databases - Oracle on HP-UX, Oracle on NT and SQLServer 2000 on NT. Anyone has good performance numbers using Jumbo frame vs. not using Jumbo frame? Jumbo frame is one of the highly recommended things by NetApp and I'd like to implement it but it sure would be nice to have some idea so I can set the right expectations. Thanks. Derek
