Nathan, I always make sure to include the configuration as sold, and then include the following commands: sysconfig -v, ifconfig -a, vif status, vol status -v, sysconfig -r, df -h, license, options, sysconfig -d. The following files are then also included: Hosts, exports. Then depending on what is installed, I would include the lun information, host initiators, snapmirror configurations, snapvault configurations, if there are any switches involved, document those configurations. I try to include the information that would be needed to rebuild the system from scratch in the event that it was to disappear. I need to complete technical documentation for a filer I'm currently installing and I'm a little perplexed on how to approach it. Because of the "Appliance" style of the device, its not as easy to create a detailed document as your typical Wintel/*nix server. We have the following mounts on the mailhost: /var/spool (filer1:/vol/v04/mailhost_spool) /var/log (filer1:/vol/v04/mailhost_log) /var/mail (filer1:/vol/v04/mail) No issues with log or mail, but the queues in /var/spool just crawl at an unacceptable speed, the volume not being to high at all. Right now all queues are repointed to local disk.
