Looking a bit deeper: 866,531,584 blocks * 512k/block / 1024 (kb) / 1024 (mb) = 423111MB or 413.2GB (roughly) Right Sized Space: 423111 * .9 (10% WAFL reserve) = 380800 MB or 371.875GB FWIW you should always look at the 'used' column in sysconfig -r, and it's always reported in MB... Most of the time they count 500GB to be 500,000,000,000 bytes and then you get to lose your 1024x3 to make it the real GB. Really? I thought it would be closer to 465 or a maybe only a little less after format. Most of the time they count 500GB to be 500,000,000,000 bytes and then you get to lose your 1024x3 to make it the real GB. NetApp FC SAN - Experiences

We are going to test a spare 3050 head (with two shelves of 10k 144gb drives) with FC. We haven't used them for FC up to this point, and we are a bit skeptical of what a filer will provide in the SAN landscape. They have been great in the NAS environment. What are everyone's experiences? Do they perform well with SQL databases or databases in general? What do people use for Multipathing? Can we use PowerPath? Does anyone use SAN Manager in DFM? How does a 3050c compare to a CX700 in the FC realm? Sorry for all of the questions but we just don't know anything about them on the FC side. extending root

Hello, I recently got FAS270c with 14 x 136GB disks. It was preinstalled and configured with aggr0 raid_dp,raidsize=14 on 3 disks to make tiny 90GB root volume v. I don't think I need partner at all, it will be connected to a single host anyway, and I need maximum possible space. Can I unconfigure partner so it does not use any disks? How to extend it to all 14 disks, possibly without spare (it serves no purpose with double parity, IMO), so I get more than 1TB root vol v? p. -- Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master. -- Commissioner Pravin Lal
