mixing disk RPMs in aggregate?

We just bought two new shelves of ATA drives to enlarge an aggregate on our R200 and the new drives are all 7200 RPM while the old drives are 5400 RPM, same size though. It looks like ONTAP will let me add the new disks to the aggregate if I use the -f (force) flag. I'm inclined to force, unless this ruin performance or make the filer crash. Not currently. This is RFE #90394. You (and any other customers out there) are welcome to call into Tech. Support and ask them to add you to the customer list of that bug/rfe #. Hi Toasters, as i have read a lot about accessing a filer via ftp i am still wondering if i can use SFTP also. I have not found anything on this on NOW. Has anybody ever made experience with this? Thanks in advance Jochen

There is also a bug in RHEL4U2 and earlier where using autofs you could hit a race condition that actually fails a mount. If at the same time an autofs mount times out and you go to use a file on the same mount, then it looks like the mount failed and you get some type of file access error. If you check immediately after that the file is fine. When you are doing grid-related jobs that take hours-days-weeks, it really stinks to hit this bug. It supposedly only affects "ghosted" auto-mounts. A workaround I use is to use --timeout=0.
