vfiler migrate - qtree level mounts

Hi, I want to perform a vfiler migrate in a production evironment this weekend, and regarding that I had a deeper look at the documentation at NOW. I did the migrate procedure some times before but always with non production data, and every time the migration went smooth without any client interuption (just nfs access). Fabric Metrocluster and FC switches

Hi all Up to now we've always successfully used Brocade 200E, 8 or 16 port, also because these are the only FC switches well documented in the TR3548 (Metrocluster Design and Implementation Guide). In that doc you can find also the correct cabling schema from shelves/heads to the correct port of switched. It historically logs that data by default, the default period for that is one week backwards, but I bet it's configurable. Doesn't the folder itself count as an object? Are there also sub-folders? latency figures visible via SNMP?

Looking through the mibs, I didn't see anything that seemed to be a match, but I thought I'd ask. Is there a way to grab the nfs latency figures via SNMP? netapp> stats show nfsv3 nfsv3:nfs:nfsv3_ops:3917/s nfsv3:nfs:nfsv3_read_latency:2254.40us nfsv3:nfs:nfsv3_read_ops:2022/s nfsv3:nfs:nfsv3_write_latency:420.56us nfsv3:nfs:nfsv3_write_ops:605/s I'm hoping it's in there and I've just missed it. Difference in # of files

Someone out there has to know this. When I go into a folder in CIFS that only has files in it, it shows in the status bar 22 objects (files). I count, and verify. 22 files. I go up a folder, and right click the folder and do a 'properties', and it shows 23 files! I am NOT showing ~snapshot, and it shouldn't matter if I did. My customer has the same problem, only the difference in his folder is 2 files (122 versus 120). Ideas anyone? … [View More]

Downgrading Data ONTAP?

Hi, we recently updated ONTAP from 7.2.5.1 to 7.3 on our 3140c, which led to many problems : one head doesn't boot anymore, so the cluster failover is impossible; the other head (currently in takeover) seems to reboot randomly every week; and when this happens, it freezes some of our RHEL4 servers (kernel panics, somewhere in lockd). Toasters, Does anyone use Microsoft DPM for Exchange backups in a MSCS cluster using NetApp storage(iscsi)? Whenever the Exchange virtual server is moved over to a new node, DPM wants to perform consistency checks on the protected storage groups - according to Microsoft this should not be the case - if I were to expand the volume, we would need to run DPM consistency checks but not during normal cluster failover (DPM performs block level backup). FAS2050 with 20 disks

Hi, I plan to implement a FAS2050 with 20 internal SAS disks. I intend to have 12 disks on one of the controller and 8 on the other. the idea being to make use of processing power of both controllers. Now the trade-off is the number of spindles in each aggregate possibly affecting performance. I have seen a few people use just 2 disks on the second controller with no spares and have the other 16 disks+2 spares on a single controller. which of these two would be a better option? -- Best regards, Premkumar Subramanian

I need to serve iscsi + CIFS. I would be servering around 1TB of cifs and 1.8 TB of iscsi data to vmware servers running SQL. We dont have any IOPS numbers. Question is what would be the performance impact...if any of a seperate aggregate of 8 disks on a seperate controller.
