inconsistent disk-list-info

when using the disk-list-info API command, we sometimes get inconsistent info - some disks missing from the list. Seems to happen more on systems with more disks. (e.g. happens semi-regularly on a system running 8.0.2 7-Mode with 60 odd disks; doesn't happen on systems with less disks.) Found one reference to this before: http://communities.netapp.com/thread/1959 It's inconsistent enough that it's a pain to troubleshoot, so wondered if anyone had any solutions already: - is this a known issue? resolved in any OnTap version? - ways to avoid it? (does limiting the attributes returned in the result set help?) -does using perf-object-instance-list-info disk to get the disks, then looping through them via disk-list-info avoid the issue? upgrade to 8.0.2

We are currently running 7.2.6.1P9 on our 3160, and I want to upgrade to 7.3.3 or later. Any reason not to go all the way to 8.0.2? My hardware is all supported (finally got rid of those old disk shelves). And if we're upgrading, do you usually upgrade disk and shelf FW as well? Is this a requirement? I seem to be one version behind on most of my FW right now. FC attached tape drive to a 3210

Hi, I'm trying to setup a FC attached tape drive to the onboard FC ports (0c and 0d) of a FAS3210 >From my understanding I need to change the FC port to an Initiator, however this requires a reboot. FILER1> fcadmin config -t initiator 0d Thu Sep 1 11:54:21 GMT [fci.config.state:info]: Fibre channel target adapter 0d is in the PENDING (initiator) state. A reboot is required for the new adapter configuration to take effect. Does anyone know if there is a way round having to reboot the filer ? "qtree stats; sysstat -c 1 5" Well, while testing the script, on the 4th time I ran it I got "short" output. On this filer, that command should return 179 lines. On the last try it only returned 10, but not simply the first 10. The one shown above is the first line in the list when the command is complete. So it's not simply truncating the total output, it has managed to drop a portion of the output of one command. If it were a network or SSH problem, I wouldn't expect a gap in the middle of a command, nor would I expect it exactly on a nice line boundary. Looks like I can open a ticket now. -- Darren

I've registered "toasters-list.org" tell me who to transfer ownership to and we can just setup dns to point to the existing server. • thank you to whomever is now hosting, I haven't been paying much attention to the discussion because of other things, but it's appreciated. • I'm happy to pay the first year, but if someone @ netapp could make sure that this gets paid for going forward, that would be appreciated. I don't want to transfer someone a domain name that comes with monitory obligation. All, I recently replied to the list asking to unsubscribe because I saw the teaparty.net. I also added a lot more of my political view and slammed the Tea Party with totally inappropriate comments, especially in this forum. My apologies to all! Surprisingly, I've only received a couple of hate-mails and I appreciate the restraint the Toasters have shown on my lack of judgment. For anyone just joining in, teaparty.net has absolutely no affiliation with the political Tea Party organization and no one should jump the gun and take offense to the teaparty.net that this forum is now hosted on as I did. Download the latest version of the ESX Host Utility Kit and use the mbralign utility that's included with it. It can be run from either the VMware hosts themselves or from a Linux/Unix server with mount access. If you take a NetApp snapshot of the datastore then you can run the mbralign scan against the snapshotted -flat.vmdk(s) without having to power off the virtual machines. Also, some VMware align/misalignment statistics are included in the output of nfsstat -d in version 7.3.5.1 or later. I may be slightly off on the OnTap release version...
