NT registry entries?

Hi there, For some reason one of my 2 NT boxes can see a filer, the other one can't. Hardware is identical, I can't see what registry values or versions of the NT dll's are the problem here, just that the files tells me that it can't make a TCP connection and the NT box tells me that the network path isn't found. Is there a list of registry entries that will set my CIFS and network setting correctly so I can access a filer? I really don't want to go through a complete reinstall just to get this fixed. Hi Brian, > Can I stream data from local servers through ndmp through the filer to the tape drives? Indeed you can, this is a feature of NDMP known as a three-way backup. I know that Workstation Solutions QuickRestore supports this particular feature, but there may be others too. As an aside, whilst slightly misleading, it's not entirely incorrect to say that a filer cannot control a media changer, as there is no built in software to do so, but, as you'll have gathered NDMP allows control by third party software. Also, the unload/reload tape device and the allows limited contol of a sequential tape stacker when using the built in dump/restore. Getting info remotely via SNMP

Is it possible to query things like cpu load, NFS/CIFS/HTTP op's, quota initialize status, hot-spare-stripe-in status, and other stuff like that via SNMP? I did an snmpwalk on our 330's and 520 running 5.2.3 and don't see anything resembling those. I made experience with Budtool, and from a flexibility perspective it is imho better to connect the robotics to the filer since it eliminates to install robotics kernel driver on Unix hosts, i.e. spt driver for Solaris . One could quickly change and fail-over to another admin host while maintaining the robotics control . Only ndmp software is required while robotics driver might not exists for a particular Unix flavour. Klaus

Nt administrators UID mapping

Hi everyone, I'm having problems with quota's. The NT Domain Admins are showing up as UID 0 (root). I have removed the Administrator == root in usermap.cfg. This didn't seem to help. Anyone have any suggestions? OS 5.3.5R3 Thanks, Ethan Erchinger Certive Corp.

Do "cifs sessions *" from the filer console. If you have a lot of sessions you will probably want to do that via "rsh" and capture the output to a file. There may also be some third-party apps that give this information better than server manager. Or you can roll your own using MS scripting tools. CIFS question

How can I search and find out which user has a specific file open? I'm only running CIFS on an all NT network. I can use the "server" app in Control Panel, but it doesn't let me sort or search. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Two reasons.. One was wrong. The first reason, is I was told by sales people from software companies that the filer cannot control the changer. So I would need to hook up a server to do that. The second reason may also be wrong. I just bought a big AIT changer that has 4 drives. I was going to get a 5th drive to backup some of our local machines.
