Thanks to all that replied. I have two options to pursue. 1. saveacl.exe and restacl.exe - these programs come in an archive called ntsec 2. Is it possible to restore NTFS permissions only on FAS960?

Someone had a little accident today and over wrote the NTFS permission settings on the folders in a tree. Lots of different permission were set on the folders in this tree. I'm wondering if it's possible to restore just the permission settings only from a snapshot. Thanks. Boss wants to go Tagmastore - help

Anyone have any experience with HDS Tagmastore vs. NetApp arguments? Mgmt wants to share disk across open systems and mainframe. NetApp doesn't play in the mainframe world. So that's a strike against it. However if I SAN attach all my NetApp disk and then hook it into the Tagmastore I have to walk away from all the NetApp software that works so great. It is then just generic SAN disk managed by the Tagmastore. I really love my NetApp software but I don't have enough ammo to lobby my case to keep buying the NetApp gear. Has anyone crossed this bridge before or do you know of any negatives with the Tagmastore solution (compared to NetApp)? I have no experience with the Tagmastore. I do understand that after you create a volume you extend it by creating another volume and "link" them together. I'd really like to keep my aggregates thank you very much. Thanks everyone. The same applies for 4.1. I am running 4.1 on a few Win2k3 servers. I called MS and the whole process took about 20-30 minutes to get the patches. There was no question about billing. Looks like thresholds are specific to DFM - (Just performed a basic search of the now site). About user quota thresholds User quota thresholds are the values that DataFabric Manager uses to evaluate whether the space consumption by a user is nearing or has reached the limit set by the user's quota. If these thresholds are crossed, DataFabric Manager generates user quota events. By default, DataFabric Manager sends user alerts in the form of e-mail messages to the users who cause user quota events. Additionally, you can configure alarms that notify the specified recipients (DataFabric Manager administrators, a pager address, or an SNMP trap host) of user quota events. DataFabric Manager can also send user alert when users exceed their soft quota limits, however, no thresholds are defined in DataFabric Manager for the soft quotas. DataFabric Manager uses the soft quota limits set in the /etc/quotas file of a filer to determine whether a user has crossed his soft quota. How user quota threshold settings are applied When you configure a user quota threshold for a volume or qtree, the settings apply to all user quotas on that volume or qtree. DataFabric Manager uses the user quota thresholds to monitor the hard and soft quota limits configured in the /etc/quotas file of each filer.
