redirection of console output to file?

Hi Joseph, You should use the /etc/syslog.conf : By default you have *.info /dev/console *.info /etc/messages With the first line, it stands that every message is displayed on the console. So you can set up syslog.conf to have any kind of info redirected to a file. I've seen the same thing on our Filers when an home folder still exists after a user has been removed from domain. I have just been examining our Quota Report. Under the ID column, Domain UserIDs appear as expected for most of our colleagues however a small number of IDs appear as just a collection of numbers (see example below) user 280-1822 Data Home 637836 2048000 - 3718 - user 280-1776 Data Home 1469388 2048000 - 3617 - user 280-1145 Data Home 139416 2048000 - 849 - user 280-1093 Data Home 262820 2048000 - 900 - user 280-1943 Data Home 1132920 2048000 - 714 - Any ideas how work out which Windows NT account these belong to or why they appear like this ? Yeah, it locks the console. Use ssh/rsh instead. I'm not sure to understand your problem, but since you use CIFS.HOMEDIR mechanism, why don't you set an home directory for each user in the Active Directory, and then use Group policy feature to redirect my Documents to the home dir ??? RE: FAS250 fibre tape controller --- copper to optical converter

Mike, I was just notified by a system engineer at NetApp that these converters will not work. The NetApp X6512A converter (same as the the Stratos) requires a powered copper fibre channel connection. The copper fibre channel port for tape on the FAS250 is not powered so these converters will not work. Sorry for the wrong information. I will let you know if I can come up with a solution. poor performance on a filer

We have an F760C that seems to have recently run into a wall in regards to performance. I'm tempted to say that it's just a problem with not enough NVRAM on the filer (F760 has 32 MB of NVRAM, and I think it gets split when you're talking about a cluster).
