Before his exile I have declared to him (the former President) that we lost the money to fire set on my office by the opposition supporters,in fact my office was really burnt down. I have decided to divert this fund which I declared to be an "diplomatic consignment" belonging to my foreign partners, as nobody have requested for it till date. It was obvious and known that during that political crises, majority of foreigners from America, Europe and Asia left Madagascar in a rush, this informed my idea to lebel the consignment diplomatic, and would not be tampered. I have not been into business before, therefore as 'am preparing my self I need a trust-worthy person to guide me into this new life, after this consignment have been secured. Hello good toaster folks We are planning to move a huge lot of data (> 3.0 T) from our 32 GB drives to 144 GB. I am carrying out some preliminary information about the quickest path to move the data across - the first option is to use ndmpcopy and the second is to copy it from shelf to shelf over fiber. We use SQL and VLD just one year now. We are very happy with it. The performance is very high. We use a separate volume for our logs. So we have 1 volume for the data with several QTREE's (one for every database) and 1 volume for the logs. This is because there is a difference between write/read behaviour (logs = write; data = read). The performance is much better when you split logs and data. Of course, more disks in your raidgroup gives more performance (5 spindles of 72 GB disks for data)… [View More]

Performance impact of 6.3 to 6.4 upgrade?

Does anyone have any concrete experience with what the performance impact of the WAFL reorg that upgrading from 6.3.x to 6.4.x causes is? I have some very loaded (almost disk bound) 960C's running 6.3.2, which I need to upgrade to 6.4.1 (because I'm told that the new DS14 Mk2 shelves that we're adding are not supported by 6.3.x). We currently have several SQL 2000 Servers accessing databases and logs on an F720 via CIFS. It works very well. We've not used the VLD option but do plan to implement it for Exchange by the end of the year. We'll probably use CIFS for as long as MS supports it for our SQL databases. As far as performance goes, we saw a small performance hit with our SQL databases primarily because of the way that our volume is layed out. Hi, just wondering if anyone has had experience with either Windows 2003 and/or SQL 2000 on NetApp running with VLD. I am new to NetApp and being soon to install one, was wondering about different volume sizes and performance with SQL databases. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve
