Sun Client Maximum Throughputs

Do any of our customers out there have some measurements of Sun client throughput? I thought I could use a 2 x 400MHz Ultra Enterprise E250 with a new Sun GbE card in it as a killer client, and I find that with V3 32KB UDP packets, the sucker rolls over at ~30 MB/s with 2 CPUs pinned at 99% in system time. This *sucks*. In an experimental filer setup reading from memory (all cached data) the F760 CPU is at 20%. I am totally client bound. Has anyone sized Sun clients out there? Are … [View More]

Wincenter Pro, excel 97 and netapp problem

Hi, I am new on this list. Let me introduce myself - my name is Krzysztof Miller, I work for Lucent Technologies CIO dept, in Poland. We have F520 running 5.1.2 . Did anybody had problems with Wincenter Pro (or Cytrix Winframe) and NetApp ? Two volumes with same name, DOT 5.2.1, how do I fix?

Hi guys, We're running DataOnTap 5.2.1 on a bunch of F330s. One of them had a disk failure this weekend, and since I was in for a power shutdown, I figured I'd just swap in a spare disk from a returned filer (upgrade to an F740). The problem is the before the old F330 was returned, we never did any of the disk commands to make all the disks into spares. We just copied the data off and shutdown the system. Failure of rm -rf

Since we moved to 5.3 (actually 5.3.2R1P1) we see occasional failures in various Unix automated management procedures. I've finally traced this to the "rm -rf" command failing. Does anyone know if it is possible for a cluster of Macs to see a filer? If that's not possible directly, do you know of any free-ware or not code that would allow it? Does anyone know of any cheat sheets for setting up a dedicated crossover gigabit ethernet between a filer and an HP-UX system? I've gotten as far as a good link light, but cannot get a ping to work. Thx, Graham

Is there a way to backup a specific snapshot...?

Hi! Does anybody know of a way to backup a specific snapshot using NDMP ? We're using 5.3.2 and up, Veritas NetBackup 3.11 and 3.2 Does anybody have experience with backuping Atria ClearCase ? I know there's a NOW article on that... Eyal.
