Hi folks,
I have a 3170 running 7.3 snapmirroring volumes shared on vfiler0 to a 3250 running 8.2.1 7-mode. I want to start replicating a volume that needs to be owned by a vfiler on the 3170. Can I do that with the snapmirror service running on vfiler0? Or do I need to create a /etc/snapmirror.conf and all the other setup required inside the vfiler?
Yes you can. You can mirror in any combination vfiler0 --> vfiler0 vfiler0 --> vfiler vfiler --> vfiler0 ..Note that if you use vfiler migrate or vfiler dr, then the mirrors must run from vfiler0 on both sides. But for regular mirrors outside of that any combination is supported. And you can break a mirror and resync to and from a vfiler and vfiler0 if you want to change later.
