Hi all... Can someone please throw some light on this error message :
Domain Controller error: NetLogon error 0xc0000022: - Filer's security information differs from domain controller
Thanx in advance

Try the command "cifs resetdc" and then "cifs domaininfo" and "cifs testdc". Normally the filer should say it is connected to one of your domain controllers. If you like it to be another one, you can use "cifs prefdc" to add a preferred DC.

Hi,
this can have several reasons:
- time is out of synch - Filers computer-account within the AD does not have the neccesary rights or is missing
There was one issue with Windows2000 trying to access data on a filer and a regkey which can be changed. Should be still in NOW.
You can do deeper analysis with "cifs testdc". Maybe only a special DC has problems.
Regards
Jochen

Also something handy can be to enable cifs.trace_login to see which DC you are talking with and which error you receive.

May be you hit bug #6216:
http://now.netapp.com/NOW/cgi-bin/bol?Type=Detail&Display=6216
Here's a quote from the bug description:
The filer maintains a computer account with the domain controller. This account includes a password. When the filer needs to access the domain controller (e.g. to authenticate a user) it has to log into the domain controller. This message occurs when the logon fails.
This failure can occur for a number of reasons. The reasons that we know about are: a. Deletion of the .cifs.dat file b. A disk full occurring during the periodic password change which can result in deletion or truncation of the .cifs.dat file. c. A user editing the .cifs.dat file
This message does not occur if the filer was unable to contact the primary domain controller.
Just a thought.
Cheers

I know the FAS will auto align VMware to the NetApp, but how about correcting VMware to Windows vmdks on p2v'd or existing VM's. Are there any options out there to align an existing server other than backup/restore. Here is my plan. Add a new vmdk of identical size, do a diskpart alignment. Then backup and restore (ntbackup, ghost, etc). I have about 15 servers and anything p2v'd with the same issue. Anyone have one better. I have new templates for future servers but we're doing a bit of consolidation.
Thanks,
Tres
