After configuring a new 520 with 12 data drives, 1 parity, and 1 hot spare, it was decided that one of the data drives should be reconfigured as a hot (or cold) spare. There's no data on the machine yet, so re-initialize is an option, I just can't find where the instructions are in the manuals or on the NOW web site. I don't want to 'disk fail' it unless there's a way to restore its status as a good drive. Any suggestions and/or solutions would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks!
Last time I was playing around with disks like this, I used the disk_zero command to remove the flag 'disk fail' puts on the disk. Don't know if that's the prefered method but it worked for me... although.. this was all on a non production box where I could afford to totally screw everything up :)
YMMV
