Greeting Toasters,
We will soon be upgrading our FAS3020 filer to a FAS3040. The two main protocols the filer is used for is NFS and ISCSI. I am concerned of the implications this upgrade will have on the iscsi network. Has anyone done this type of migration and can share their experience with me? Will upgrading the head unit impact iscsi iqns, lun serial numbers etc?
Thanks, Darish.

By default, the iSCSI target iqn of the filer will change, since it contains the serial# of the head. You can change that since the IQN is configurable, IIRC.
LUN serial numbers stay the same, and I am unaware of any other changes occuring in this aspect.
If you are using a FAS3020, chances are that you are running on hardware-based ownership. The FAS3040 is software-based ownership only, so chances are that you need to do a maintenance-mode boot and reassign the disks to the new head.
HTH & Good luck!
