For cDOT, you want to stick with SSH. I am not even sure if rsh is support to cDOT. I suspect it is, and it is treated much like telnet.
You would need to dig into the guides to see if it will work.

You can setup ssh to function with a key rather than a password. Functionally it should work exactly the same as rsh except exponentially more secure.
I do this in 7 mode regularly, the following link looks like it should work for CMode
