Toasters,
I am having difficulty with large file writes to an f720 from any of my IBM hosts, if I start a large write with dd then try to do anything on the filer from that host it hangs until the write completes. From a different host access to the filer is near normal. I do not have this problem with linux boxes on the same network so it seems that the problem lies with AIX somehow. IBM has been sympathetic although not very helpful.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Did you try remounting with rsize and wsize of 8192? I had this problem if my filer was running a gig-e card and my solaris clients were using 100mb cards. This may not be your case but it sounds similar to my performance problem.

We do have AIX servers connected to F960. No issues. What size file are you trying to dd ? Thanks Deepak Soneji ----- Original Message ----- From: bill_link@dstoutput.com To: toasters@mathworks.com Sent: Monday, October 27, 2003 3:05 PM Subject: AIX write performance

Hello Joe,
In this case , I will check negotiation of NIC first. Sometimes , "auto-neg." made problem just like yours. My recommendation It is set to Full-Duplex. You can check "ifconfig -a" as follows.
filer> ifconfig -a e0: flags=848043<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 192.168.27.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.27.255 ether 00:b0:94:00:ad:4d (100tx-fd-up)

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a list of files recently created or modified from the filer? Via API or otherwise?
Thanks,
Deanan
It doesn't seem to matter what size file, it is just a longer wait with a big file. I'm using dd to write a 1 gig file from /dev/zero to the filer. I've tried with both AIX 4.3.3 and 5.2.1 with similar results.
