I'm with everyone else, Enigma. We need to be able to do some kind of archiving of old data to a secondary storage device (ATA array, or something along those lines). It seems like all of the software out there works in a Solaris or Windows environment. I haven't found anything compatible with a Filer. Could anyone prove me wrong? Steve Evans SDSU Foundation

With filer only being Netapp you are not wrong now. Netapp will likely be releasing a tool to facilitate this going from FAS/F to R150/100. However if you want a NAS device that does HSM to tape. Hi Steve, As far as I know, there are two products that could suit your needs: - SmartMove from Enigma Data (http://www1.enigmadata.com/smartmove.php), which can move files from Filers to NearStores, leaving symbolic links or shortcuts - StorageX from NuView, distributed OEM by NetApp as VFM, which can migrate files from Filers to NearStore also, but relies on Microsoft DFS and simply change the target in the DFS link once a folder has been moved.
