I tried the CYGWIN route. An "ln -s test data" creates a file (seen in DOS windows) that is called data.lnk. CYGWIN in an "ls" command shows it as a symbolic link (data->test). However, if I copy the symbolic link in a DOS window, the new file is a copy of the link, not the data from the file that is linked to. If I copy the file in a CYGWIN, the contents of the linked file is copies (so CYGWIN translates it appropriately). And if I name the file something other than "file.lnk" (e.g. file.dat) in a DOS window, it is no longer a symbolic link. From my investigations, Windows doesn't seem to have symbolic links. The "shortcuts" that you see on a Windows desktop doesn't resolve at the CreateFile level (operating system call), so it is only handled by Explorer (which is an application, not the operating system). My company tried to save some money by getting a Netapp without the NFS license because we will not be using it with Unix. The problem is we need to use a few symbolic links. Make sure that your 3550 model of cisco switch supports 9000 byte mtus... there is an asic limitation in some models of that particular switch that doesn't support true jumbo frames. As for setting up etherchannel... int portchannel-1 switchport access vlan x switchport mode access no ip address int g0/1 channel-group 1 mode on int g0/2 channel-group 1 mode on I'm assuming your just creating a plain vanilla etherchannel (not layer 3.) you can also experiment with various loadbalancing algorithms using port-channel load-balance x to see which one works best for you. Hi, I'm new here. I bought a bunch of F330 for a peppercorn price at a liquidation sale. One SCSI cable lists for what I paid the the entire array. I figure that in the worst case I can always break and sell the memory sticks and cables. But curiosity gets to me, I'd like to bring at least one of these beasts up. I figured if I powered one up it would kick out a prompt on the console port. But it doesn't seem to. Is there a trick to do a cold reset and get the things to start over? Ditto....although we deal with just CIFS file access, we did some pretty intense testing when the system was installed and after any change to the configuration. After we moved to DP we didn't notice a significant change in performance. CIFS client slowness

We're experiencing severe latency when a Windows 2000pro or Windows XP client reads and writes to a folder on our Netapps (FAS960 w/ Data Ontap 6.5.1). It only seems to be client O/S as our testing w/ a Windows 2000 Server did not have latency on reads / writes. We're currently looking at SACK and TCP Window sizes. Has anyone experienced severe client latency? Any know issues / advice? Anyone changing the sack option on their Filers? Thanks! Related info below: ===================== SackOpts This parameter controls whether or not SACK (Selective Acknowledgement) support is enabled, as specified in RFC 2018. SACK is especially important for connections using large TCP Window sizes. HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters SackOpts="1" (DWORD - boolean, recommended setting is 1.
