Purging events in operations manager

If I look in my Operations manager settings (DFM 4.0.2), I see an eventsPurgeInterval. What events should be getting removed by this setting? I have lots and lots of old events cluttering things up. Some are only in history, some are current. Here's one that's current. $ dfm report view events | grep 985209 Information 985209 Aggregate Discovered 08 Dec 2008 24482 toaster4:aggr2 here's one that's not current: $ dfm report view events | grep 620491 $ dfm report view events-history | grep 620491 Information 620491 Host User Modified 15 Aug 2008 root 25 Nov 2008 1810 toaster3 But other times I see things do get purged, so I just don't understand what is and is not disappearing. Is there a way to get rid of all these ancient information events disappear (even from history)? -- Darren

VMAX and NETAPP on the same SAN

Hi all, we're going to migrate some LUN from EMC VMax array to a new 6280 on a FCP SAN. At the same time customer has to maintain on the same hosts Windows 2K3 and 2K8 LUNs on the VMAX and LUNs on the 6280. First we will push the customer to acquire another set of HBAs to physically separate the traffic and over all for we have to use two different MPIO software on the different HBAs. But the big issue is that there's no doc that certify supportability of these two environment at the same time in Windows. I found old docs reporting supportability of CX3 and CX4 but neither a word on VMAX nevertheless it's on the market since 2009. Any suggestion? Regards,

Has anyone connected to an AS400 using VIOS?

Since it works for AIX power boxes so I don't see why it shouldn't work for an iSeries box as well but I don't have any experience with it. From what I understand the main thing that was preventing AS400's from using a NetApp box as storage was the difference in the block sizes but that's abstracted by the virtual IO server and works with other FC boxes now. aggregate rename

My question is specifically around 8CM but I would be surprised if it applied differently to 7mode. Can an aggregate be renamed without impacting NFS access by clients? Volumes cannot, obviously, but nowhere is a client aware of aggregate info so had I to guess I'd say it could be renamed with impunity. But I'd rather not guess... Thanks. ssh related errors in filer's messages - how to fix them?

Hello Toasters, What's the easiest way to fix these ssh related errors reported by the filers? [sshd_0:info]: Postponed publickey for <user> from <client> port 47309ssh2 and also these related ones: [ems.engine.inputSuppress:warning]: Event 'openssh.invalid.channel.req' suppressed xxx times since [openssh.invalid.channel.req:warning]: SSH client (SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_4.3) from <client> sent unsupported channel request (10, env). NOW wasn't much help here. thanks in advance -net

Finding out which client has mapped a share?

Is there anyway to find out which client has mapped which shares? I'm trying to delete a share and even with: cifs shares -delete -f applications It won't go away and I get the following. Thu Jun 30 11:52:14 PDT [smbrpc.forceClose.share.timeout:warning]: CIFSRPC: Close of share Applications has not completed and has taken 3660 seconds. This is on a FAS2050 running 7.2.6.1P8, which I know I should upgrade sometime. Thanks, John

Hi Chris - You're correct rshstat is not available in ONTAP 7.2.6.x. In attempt to isolate the problem, ssh is piggy-backed on top of rsh and telnet depending if ssh is interactive or not; so if rsh and telnet work then the problem is in ssh part. However if rsh does not work, hopefully, more information will be displayed. My thought is that all the rsh sessions and therefore ssh sessions have been consumed. The rshstat command would have told us. If all the rsh sessions are consumed, then unfortunately, a re-boot is needed. All the options below look fine. Since the telnet.access and rsh.access is legacy, please check options trusted.hosts to make sure this is set correctly. Regards, - Rick - -----Original Message----- From: Christopher B. Hi- We have an interesting situation with one of our filers. Earlier today, one of our monitoring systems managed to eat up all of the available ssh slots on the box. Once we got that under control, we have found we still can't get on to the box via ssh or ssh commands to it, they just hang. There is something listening and accepting connections, but it hangs once the connection is made. We've tried: - turning off and on the ssh options - changing the ssh port (and changing it back) - secureadmin setup ssh (and moving the keys back) Can you think of anything else I could do to kick the daemon short of rebooting the box (which is currently serving in production)? Perhaps something in a super-squirrel-secret priv mode? Thanks! -- dNb
