In order to revert you'll have to boot 7.0 into normal Data ONTAP and then do "revert_to 6.5". Hi, i have a Problem with a FAS270, the Ontap Version is 6.5.5P9, but the Raidlabel is from Ontap 7.0. In which Mode (maintenance or other) can i use the command "revert_to 6.5.5?" I can't find the command in the Maintenance or the CFE Mode. The FAS270 is down and halted. Thank You Soeren Daehnrich PS:Sorry for my English.

Hi Frank, We are running our sybase DB's on netapp filers. Some figures: Sybase is running on a Sun 6800 with 14 CPU's and 14 GB of RAM. We are running two sybase servers on that hardware: * PeopleSoft HR: 139 GB data and 5 GB log (grow 18 MB/day) * Clinical Workstation: 545 GB data and 21 GB log (grow 250 MB/day). * +70 smaller DB's. We have +1000 concurrent users on the system. We use FC on a FAS960c for the data and FAS3020c for the logs. We have decide to split data and logs for very specific disaster recovery raisons. We want to do a load DB of one DB (standby) without performance impact on the other DB's (production). For the sybase, we work with raw devices and use Veritas for multi pathing. Tuning SnapVault perf over WAN links

Hi all, We're running snapvaults across a WAN link and we'd like to make sure we're getting the best performance possible. Both for the initial transfer, and for the followup snapshots which sync up the systems. All the systems are running OnTap 7.0.1 currently. The source filers are F960s or F270s, so they've got plenty of oomph. The network is all Gigabit on the LAN side. We have a WAN setup with 45mbit/sec and 90mbit/sec links between various sites. But the latency is on the order of 90ms, which means that we want to have a TCP Window Size of around 2Mb to keep up streaming performance. I've been looking around, but I don't see anything which explicity addresses LFN (Large Fat Network) WAN links like this under snapvault, esp when there's a large latency in the loop. Does anyone have any pointers on what I can do to: 1) tune the TCP stack for better performance 2) monitor the Network settings (internally, I know I could use ethereal or some other external snoop tool). 3) get better stats out of snapvault for how the transfer is going, and how long it's going to take to Quiesce snapvaults. I've had some which are going on 300+ hours! 4) What other people are doing in this situation to monitor and control large numbers of snapvaults (we're doing per-qtree) across WAN links. Incremental NDMP backup after volume migration.

I asked the following on the NOW Backup Community Forum but I haven't yet had any reply. Can anyone help, please? I have upgraded to ONTAP 7.0.1R1. I shall use ndmpcopy to copy vol2 to a new vol2flex- there's enough space. I shall remame vol2 to vol2trad and vol2flex to vol2. vol2 contains files accessed by CIFS. We run nightly ndmp incremental backups (Netbackup, Windows). 1. Will the backup after the volume renaming be as normal (because most file modification times are still prior to the last incremental) or will we get a backup of everything (because some archive status bit shows none of the files have been previously backed up)? 2. To migrate, I may, in the event, do a level 0 ndmpcopy on a live system followed by a level 1 ndmpcopy with the volume restricted. Does this make a difference? 3. Later, I shall handle vol1 which has files accessed by both NFS and CIFS. Will the situation be different on this volume? 4. You are seeing user quotas, not share/export/qtree quotas. You need a qtree quota to limit the qtree to 2GB. User quotas define how much of a system/export/share/qtree quota is available per user. The advantage of using a qtree over a directory is that quotas can be set on a qtree and oplocks can be enabled or disabled dynamically on each qtree. Running a 740 filer with Ontap 6.4.5. I have users that are mapped to their home directories on the filer. We have 2 GB quotas on the home directories. When one of our users clicks on her mapped drive, it shows that 12.8MB are used and 1.98GB are free in the Windows Explorer pane. When I check it as another user on another system, it says that 4K is used and 1.99GB is free in the pane. If I right-click on the folder in the home directory and bring up the properties of the folder, it shows that there is 1.51GB of data in there. What's causing the discrepancy?
