iscsi benchmark tools

Hi Toasters, I just setup a iSCSI test environment and comparing the performance with a server's local disk. The target is the R200 (50GB LUN) with a W2K initiator, MS's iSCSI driver on 100MB NIC (Interl Ethernet NIC not iSCSI HBA). I used two different freeware tools (Roadkil Speed Disk v1.1 and IOMeter v200.7.30) and get totally different results. iSCSI volume Random Read: Roadkil - 30.3MB/sec IOMeter - .06MB/sec iSCSI volume Write IOMeter - .03MB/sec Roadkil - N/A on freeware version Based on the Random Read numbers, it seems the two results are vastly different. Don't know which one depicts the 'true' performance for the iSCSI volume. Can someone recommend a tool you use before to benchmark iSCIS performance? F8XX/F9XX nfs performance

I am considering moving from the F760 systems to either F8XX or F900. I currently load my F760's with 500GB total and hit maximum nfs ops of around 5000. I want to increase the capacity per head unit by two. Would the F8xx or F9xx hangle upwards of 10K nfs ops/second easily? thanks -tavis

i found that this is a bug Bug ID *117062* Title "Sensor PS_1_Present is failing to operate!" on F700 filers specific to F7XX there is nothing to do it's annoying but not important ... Ontap 6.5.1R1 CPU usage

I have a netapp F760 serving nfs, it is running Ontap 6.5.1R1 but the CPU usage is 100% when it reaches 10Kops/sec !! The old 740 never reached 100%cpu with Ontap 6.3.x with 10Kops/sec. Why 6.5.1R1 is using so much cpu running only nfs (no mirror, no quota, no atime, no snapshots) ??? Does the 6.5.2R1 solve this problem ? Can I downgrade to 6.4.5 with just untar the archive on root volume, install and type 'donwload' on console ? (or it will conflict with 6.5.2R1 ?) Thanks Cédric

Vscan Error: Internal Server Error

Hi Toasters, I have been getting vscan error on our filer. Fri Sep 24 14:26:27 SGT [toaster01: rpc_0:warning]: CIFS: Virus scanner 192.168.1.45 completed a scan on modified file ONTAP_ADMIN$\vol\toaster01_Vol2\Home\alfredbk\Windows NT 4.0 User Profile\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\0H2NKPMB\yahoo.htm for client 192.168.5.21 (WORKSTATION55) as user alfredbk but returned the following status: [0x5] and status message: Internal server error I know that it is a common error. Anyone know how to clear this error from the filer? Setting on the filer or setting on the vscan server. I am using Carrier Scan SAV 4.03 Cheers, Alfred
