Going to plain 6.3 or 6.4 or higher would work . CIFS Domain Access problem

Hello, One of my customer's filers running 6.1.2 is having problems connecting to the proper NT domain. When I run CIFS setup and try to have it logon to his domain TILEANDMARBLE it try's to connect in NT4 mode and not AD. But if I just use the name LAN it will connect to the domain with no problem. His domain is named lan.tileandmarble.com so I'm guessing that the filer is recognizing that and not the NETBIOS name TILEANDMARBLE. When I join the filer to the LAN domain it is not viable under my network places since it's joined to the LAN domain and not TILEANDMARBLE. Is their any way around this problem? NDMP Backups over private network

Hello, Can anyone suggest the best way for backing up NetApps via Veritas Netbackup (via NDMP) on a private network. Scenario: Four Filers: Each with QFE card with the IP address available. On Board Card on each of the filers is unused as for now. M1800 Stacker connected to one of the filers with SDLT320 drives. Master Media Server is Sun Server. I was curiuos to know if the backups can happen over a private network using onboard card. Should I connect another QFE on the Filer which has the tape library connected to it and assign three private IP addresses (viz. 10.x.x.x, 172.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x) And respectively assign, onboard cards on the other three filers an similar private ip address . As far as cabling is concerned, will a cross-cable connected from each onboard card to the qfe on the filer which has the M1800 library connected a good way to ensure eliminating network traffic generated via NDMP backup ? Is there any other way, in which I can achieve the same ? Regards Rahul

autosupport flexibility

Setting the content to minimal is not good enough to give us the information that we need as administrators. This is very disappointing. The seven attachments don't amount to much space(5 at 4K and a 16K and a 20K), but with several systems sending these to the responsible admin team, and their usefulness being only when there is a problem to analyze that is hopefully infrequent, I'd like this request to be *escalated* to add an option to dispense with the attachments or add attachments only when there is a serious problem. You must see that these attachments are completely unnecessary even with 99.5% of real problems they are not necessary or even helpful to conclude what the problem is and fix it. Because we can't select some recipients for minimal and some for complete, if we wish to get useable information to the admins, we still can't send a 'minimal' message to external recipients either and these attachments have information that would be helpful to anyone wishing to get information about our networks and configurations for hostile purposes. I suppose we could disable auto-support and run a script to set and send minimal auto-support externally and then reset it to complete and send to internal distribution, but then we would not get timely urgent messages for crashes and component failures. For the others copied: I am complaining about the seven attachments that accompany every auto-support message after OnTap 6.5 is installed: 200401141304.0.cm_stats.gz 200401141304.0.ems.gz 200401141304.0.exports.gz 200401141304.0.hosts.gz 200401141304.0.rc.gz 200401141304.0.resolv_conf.gz 200401141304.0.syslog_conf.gz And also that we can't build two lists for auto-support with one for minimal and one for complete messages. It seems the server running the rsh script was not in the Filer's host.equiv. After host.equiv updated, the script worked. Should of double check :-) Thanks for the response. I have F820 running DOT 6.4.2P6 with CIFS only. I noticed the cifs audit log does not log all events. The audit log is dump and saved every night at midnight via a rsh script. Looking through several log file, there are only a few entries in each of the file. All of the entries are within 16 minutes after midnight when the audit file is dump. These are the settings.
