migration to new switch: questions

All the equipment in the server room has to be moved from a Cajun P550 switch to an Alpine 3808 Extreme switch, including our filers: an F760 with 9 Ethernet ports, an F740 with 4 ports, and an F230 with one port. - Is it necessary to bring down the filers before changing out the cables, or is it possible to get away with leaving them up and just unplugging the old cables and plugging in the new ones? - With the F760, eight of the ports are on two boards, and the ninth is a separate port labeled 10/100 BASE-T. If the system can remain up during the migration, does it matter what order the ports are moved? Also, if anyone has experience with this sort of migration, I'd appreciate any warnings, suggestions, or sadder-but-wiser advice (i.e., things you wish you'd known before you migrated your equipment) you can offer. We've already been warned to turn autonegotiation off and nail up the speed and duplex state on the Extreme. Hi Folks no one in toaster land knows the answer to this query? HI folks I'm looking for the CPU speed of the F810 and F825. Unable able to find in the knowledge base and I'm guessing 733MHz. Txs Peter

FC-AL on a 540

We're looking at replacing some (most) of the SCSI drives and shelves on our F540 with a FC-AL shelf. Looking through NOW I find hints that the F500 series supports FCAL, but going to the Configuration comparison I see that the F540 doesn't support FC-AL but that the F520 does. This I find to be very strange. Is there a reason for this? Does the F540 support FCAL? <scw> ----- Stephen C. The then head of state General Sani Abacha transferred his share of the money through a Lebanese businessman,Chagoury and a Jewish businessman, Mark Rissar to bank accounts overseas.Unfortunately, all the secrets were revealed by the investigation agencies set up by the successive governments and most of the Abachas loots were traced and repatriated from the various accounts to the Federal Government Treasury.Out of the money my father made, he left the sum of N50 Million (FiftyMillion Naira) in the CBN escrow account for further transfer into a foreign account and a sum of $60M (Sixty Million Dollars) was kept in a Private security firm here in Nigeria. Through the confessions made by the Abachas Family, the N50 Million was recovered by the investigating agency from the CBN escrow account. But were unable to discover the$60M, which he kept in the vaults. The reason is because no names were used to lodge in the funds.Instead, he used PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS(PIN) and declared the contents as Bearer Bonds and Treasury Bills. Netapp equipment

Hi To All Just to let you all have a chance, I have the responsibility to remove quantities of older Netapp equipment, such as; F230's F630's F540, also scsi shelves differential and single ended with 9gb drives and I even have the older shelves that hold the 4gb drives. I also have other equipment but not Netapp. This inventory is at give away prices and some I will just give away and that's probably what I will do, donate to our Ottawa Universities and Colleges. During the war in my country, and following the indiscriminate looting of Public and Government properties by the rebel forces, the Sierra Leone mining coop. Was one of the target looted and it was destroyed. My father including other top Government functionaries were attaked and killed by the rebels in November 2000 because of his relationship with the civilian Government of Ahmed Tejan Kabbah. As a result of my father's death , and with the news of my uncle's involvement in the air crash in Januaryit dashed our hope of survival. The untimely deaths caused my mother's heart failure and other related complications of which she later died in the hospital after we must have spent a lot of money on her early this year . Now my 18 years old sister and myself are alone in this strange country suffering without any care or help. Without any relation, we are now like refugees and orphans. XP refreshing

Hello Toasters, I have an F740c running 6.1.2R1 in NT4 domain. Currently, the client PC are being migrated to XP into W2K AD (mixed mode). Came across a peculiar problem and wondering if anyone else experience it. XP client with Windows Explorer open is continually refreshing when open against a Filer volume, share folder. Analysis has shown that it seems to be every two seconds a refresh occurs, and when using a network trace tool, it seems to average out at around 50K per second. As soon as explorer's focus is placed elsewhere, or shut down, this network load stops. This 'refreshing' only appears if the share folder is highly utilize. Connecting to a share folder that is no busy, the 'refreshing' does not exist. Notice this with W2K Pro client as well, but not as frequent as XP Client. thanks, Marcus Bui
