Load testing a Netapp

I'm trying to test some monitoring scripts I have for filers and would like to know if there's a way to artificially increase the CPU load on a filer. I don't have very many clients to generate load with, so if there's some way to do this from the console of a filer, that's even better. Creating boot floppies

Hi I have an F740 running nicely, and I'd like to create a set of boot floppies, just in case the unthinkable happens one day. Is there any way of doing this from our netapp directly, as I don't have access to support at this time. quotas on directories in a qtree

hello i want to be able to put a 10meg quota on the directory username /vol/vol(volnumber)/(qtree name)/x/y/z/username I dont want to use UID because there are over 1 million UIDs I dont want to create individual qtree because it would be a nightmare managing over 1 million qtrees anyone know how i can put a quota on the username directory? thanks Greg -- Greg Wilson System Administrator gwilson(a)connect.com.au

User quota in NIS /and NFS

We have tree quotas, with user quotas inside of them. CIFS users only see what they are allocated through their user quotas, however Unix users see the entire tree quota. The quotas are being enforced and working properly on Unix hosts. I had heard that in 6.3 this would no longer be an issue, but when we tested we are getting the same result. Thanks drew

In versions prior to the 6.2 release, symbolic links were not allowed to leave a share. That was primarily to prevent use of symlinks to bypass share-level security. Starting with the 6.2 release, there is a way to securely follow symbolic links out of a share, or even onto another filer. Starting with the 6.2.1 release, you can also set up another way to allow symbolic links to cross out of a share to any path on the same filer, in situations where you are not worried about share-level security. Both of these capabilities are enabled by per-share options. There no limit to the number of symlinks. Any of you have any experience using symbolic links between NFS and CIFS? I'm particularly interested in peculiarities, or problems? Does this work for directories and files? Is there a limit to the number of symlinks? Burnett Enterprises does anyone remember the environment variable to ignore errors on post? How about the command to remove a wrong setenv variable?

clear-post-result will clear the results of the post allowing yolu to boot. unsetenv variable_name will clear the environment variable..
