I'll try ifconfiging the vif without 100tx-fd and see what happens tonight. I've been up all night working on W2K issues so I'll try it tonight. Chris, If I'm not incorrect, the redundant FCAL loop is not used for data transfer unless there is a problem with first loop. In this regard, even if 2nd FCAL card is not in an ideal slot, it would not matter that much. Nevertheless, it is better to avoid it altogether if possible... filer-mrtg on Solaris (Intel)

Hi all, Has anyone been successful in getting filer-mrtg working on Solaris (x86) ?? The rateup binary is for Sparc Solaris and using the latest rateup binary (mrtg 2.9.12) does not seem to work. I keep getting this error: PROBLEM: rateup died from Signal 8 with Exit Value 0 when doing router 'filer1.net.snmp' If this happens all the time, you should probably investigate the cause. :-) Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?? logging snapshot events

Is there a way to log snapshot events? I.e.: Sun Apr 22 02:29:13 EDT [consumer]: Disk scrubbing finished... Sun Apr 22 08:30:46 EDT [snapevent]: Snapshot test created on vol vol0 by user luser from machinename Sun Apr 22 08:31:46 EDT [snapevent]: Snapshot test renamed to test2 on vol vol0 by user luser from machinename Sun Apr 22 08:32:46 EDT [snapevent]: Snapshot test2 deleted on vol vol0 by user luser from machinename Sun Apr 22 08:33:46 EDT [snapevent]: Snapshot test3 created on vol vol0 by user luser from console [...] Mon Apr 23 00:00:02 EDT [snapevent]: Snapshot nightly.0 rolled on vol vol0 by user root from scheduler [...] Etc? Sometimes, as today, I find snapshots that should be there aren't, and it takes a while to find out how they disappeared. Sometimes, I never do find out how they gave up their mortal bits. Status so far. I decided to bypass the E0 network port and put another nic out of a pc I had in slot 5. I then tested in single mode and multi mode and everything worked great. I'll try out cluster failover tommorrow. Since I have each nic going to a different network card on my cisco 6509, I decided to hit the netapp from machines on each of the network cards on the cisco and instantly saw traffic on both interfaces. It only maxed at a 100mb thoughput and was distributed between the interfaces on the Netapp. I was hoping to be able to get double the performance. Back in my days as a customer I attended a CIFS conference at Netapp headquarters. After the conference I was offered a beautiful black leather jacket for participating. ARRRGH!! It was something my company would not allow me to accept (government contracts and the like). Now that I work at Netapp I get the occasional shirt, some of them I'd even wear in public. But I often wonder what happened to that jacket I had to turn down....
