In a clustered configuration, you will have two filers. In case one filer goes
down, the other filer will take over the failing filer's disks so that data is
still accessible. If there is a disk failure, RAID can take care of it.
However, in case of a disk shelf failure, I think you are out of luck.

Ok, I am wondering if I can make this work
I have a filer with that needs to be redundant (clustered). The data on the
filer is cache data so it can be thrown out (i.e. not critical) but the
machine has to be 24x7 machine.
If any part of one of the machines die, it must stay up.
Therefore,
If I cluster the box, how do I make it so that if the shelf fails for
Netapp1 (I only have one shelf per head) Netapp1 will be able to grab the
shelf on netapp2 and keep going. Is this even possible?
