We were looking for something similar with the FAS250 because we want to connect our tape robots/drives directly to the FAS250 so that we do not have to do a back up over the network. The answer I got from NetApps is to either 1. use a FC copper card in our tape robot, 2. use a media converter (not suggested by NetApps but by Quantum), or 3. back up over the network.
This is taken directly from http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/hardware/NetApp/syscfg/scdot651/ind ex.htm http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/hardware/NetApp/syscfg/scdot651/in dex.htm
The FAS250 does not support expansion adapters. It has two onboard 10Base-T/100Base-TX/1000Base-T copper interfaces and one onboard copper fibre-channel interface for tape drives.

I believe the 250 has a fixed interface configuration... It doesn't have expandable slots, so the answer to your question would be no.
However, it does have 2 gigabit copper interfaces. Perhaps you could use one of those?

Hey all
Can I add a fiber nic to a FAS 250 device as a second nic card? I ask because I want to add a fiber nic to my exchange server and then plug a cross over cable from the fiber card on the exchange box to the fiber card on FAS 250 for better performance.
