I understand that 1000Base-SX is fairly interoperable between vendors these days, but does anybody have any real world experience with a NetApp and an Extreme Networks Summit switch connected with Gigabit?
Thanks

I don't feel comfortable naming a customer - perhaps they will jump on - but I saw an amazing network, a mesh of Extreme boxes, fanning out to 100BaseT, with two (?) F630 FibreChannel boxes directly on the Gigabit backbone connecting all the Extreme switches together.
The largest Gigabit install I have ever seen personally. I thought it was very cool.
This was, sheesh, last February?
We have several vendors switches in-house as part of our interoperability testing framework, including the Extreme switches.
Perhaps someone else will jump on...

I don't know about the Extreme switches. Should work. It works with the Lucent and the Cabletron products. I believe this is true for the Foundry products as well (others have used this).
I have 3 filers on GigE and they all seem happy. At least happier than they were with fddi (at times).
