I've been told that NetBackup can only restore NDMP dumps in place, too -- not to an alternate directory, for example (I haven't verified that with the vendor).
NetBackup can restore to alternate directories. Prior to NetBackup 3.4 it cannot restore to a different NetApp box.

as of what rev can it do alternate path restore? 3.2 cannot.
