We were also running without SnapDrive for a long time. About 2 years. I just recently upgraded to use SnapDrive.
If you don't need to do snapshot on the fly, you can do without SnapDrive. However, you need to shutdown your server before you take a snapshot and growing luns take a long time since you need to use something like diskpart yourself.
SnapDrive makes all these tasks a breeze. It also is pretty low cost.

Is anyone running iSCSI on windows without SnapDrive or is it just a big pain w/o SnapDrive?
How does SnapDrive for Windows make your life easier, is it work the license?
