Sony AIT-3 comes as a stand alone, so do most other tape formats: SDLT, Exabyte, LTO, LTO2, etc. Get in touch with a good vendor and they can point you in the right direction for example http://www.storagebysony.com/products/productmain.asp?id=142

I am getting a FAS270c for a small project. The users are concerned about the data security and do not want the data to cross the wire to our current backup solution. So, we're limited to a couple of direct attached tape drives on the FAS270 because the amount of data does not justify a small library. Is there anyone else out there doing this? What did you use? I can't find any stand alone FC (optical) tape drives.
Thanks for the help!
